Young Drivers has gone straight down. Like belly flop on concrete down. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. I honestly have not been as disappointed in a company as this in a LONG time. I made my son go through YD based on the amazing experience I had 30 or so years ago. The online learning was mediocre at best from what I could tell (as compared to being in a classroom). The in-car training is poor at best. They no longer teach any emergency maneuvers. My son did not progress very quickly at all with the YD instructor as compared to the Yogi Driving School instructor who seemed to give him a lot more feedback and confidence. All in all, you would get more value lighting your money on fire than going through Young Drivers. If anyone is paying attention to these comments - pull up your socks. YD of today is a disgrace as compared to 30 years ago. Read Less

Pretty disappointing experience so far. I chose them because they're supposed to be the best and paid handsomely for the courses since I have a lot of anxiety about learning to drive. I did the virtual classroom lessons without issue, but it has been impossible to schedule in-car lessons. There's one phone number that leads to a national call centre with exactly two employees (I asked after the first time I called when it took an hour and forty-five minutes to finally get through). They are grossly understaffed. The woman I spoke with was very nice and promised to get me in touch with an instructor. She said she'd reach out in two days. That was two weeks ago. Before that, she mentioned having two instructors available in my city, but that I'd have to meet either of them in public locations very far from my home. When I signed up, they said instructors pick you up at home, which other (less expensive) driving schools do as well. But now I'm expected to get to an entirely different location that is far away... when I can't drive, obviously. I'm disabled and this is ridiculous. YD might be coasting on their reputation from decades ago, but this is getting to be ridiculous. I can't speak to the quality of the in-car lessons because I haven't actually had any since I can't get through their scheduling system. Emails and voicemails go unanswered. I feel like I'm being ripped off. Read Less

I was happy with Young Drivers. We choose them because they were the ONLY ones who could fit my son in the classroom session over spring break. (We had used another company for son 1 but they had no room in their classroom sessions.) My son thought the classroom instructor did a good job keeping them interested and he got a lot out of it. (amazing for a teenage boy) He mostly had Trevor as his instructor and he really liked him. What I really liked is that my son was doing okay so Trevor took him to an empty lot and practiced some emergency maneuvers. The only bad thing was an instructor at the end smoked and my son didn't like the smokey smell that hung on him. But he was still a good instructor. Read Less

I took YD Drivers GLP Program Automatic at their North Vancouver branch in fall 2016. I am a new driver and wanted proper training for ICBC class 7 road test. The course was great. Most important the instructor that was teaching it had ~30 years of experience and was able to explain the material in short and easy to understand way. The classroom sessions took place on weekday’s evenings. There was 7 students total in the classroom which was great. The theoretical part itself was intense and very useful. We went through different road situations and analyzed videos, photos and newspaper articles. Also being a safe driver was addressed a lot like driving when you are stressed/angry, peer pressure, impaired driving. Every second session had a test based on material we've learned and in the end there was a final test. The in-car lessons were very valuable. I never drove before and my instructor taught me in an efficient and fun way. He made me a confident driver. Also part of the in-car lessons were emergency maneuvers that are worth taking even as a stand-alone lesson because they are so good. Me and my instructor pushed the limits of the car to learn how anti-lock braking system and skid control works and what the best ways to avoid collisions are. The course was well worse the money and I am very happy with it. Read Less

We paid almost $2000 for class and lessons for my son. It's been almost 3 months. We finally heard back from a scheduler today to be told that it will be at least 2 more months before they can schedule an instructor him. They took our money without actually having the capacity to provide the lessons. I'm fighting with them now to try and get our money back. What a nightmare! Read Less

North Vancouver - School will take your money, and all the extras you pay for manual transmission and road test prep but will not meet minimum standards of customer service. School had inadequate manual transmission instructors resulting in lesson-planning challenges. This can result in the 365 day rule of course completion in order to test early for the road test. There will be confusing certification mailed out but will not be worth the paper the certificate is printed on as ICBC will not recognize it. Be careful, do your homework, do not expect anything more than a cash-grab mediocre business that has drastically gone downhill over the years. Contact was made to clarify an issue with Young Drivers dropping the ball but the concerns were met with "canned" responses. Proof of due-diligence was requested but could not be furnished by Young Drivers. Expect to work with ICBC in order to be recognized by this school via appeals. Correspondence and support is close to non-existent throughout sessions. Get everything in writing. Do not rely on phone conversations with this company, or better yet, save your money and frustration. Find a reputable school that will actually do more than cash your cheques. Read Less
