Introduction: I recently took the driver tests at the Barrie testing centre and wanted to share my experience and thanks. I had to take the tests three times — I didn’t pass the G test on my first attempt, later passed G2, and today I successfully passed the G. Throughout this process I was very satisfied with every test and the overall service. I have experienced with men and women Main findings: ⦁ The service at the Barrie Driver Testing Centre is excellent. ⦁ Instructors do their job professionally and attentively; they must check and be careful with many different people and nationalities, which is not easy. ⦁ Negative reviews don’t reflect my experience — people, please be kinder and more understanding. Remember that instructors evaluate your performance in the moment; they don’t know your past experience. ⦁ I highly recommend the Barrie driver testing — it’s fair and well-run. Also I have problem with my language but it didn’t bother me Conclusion: Huge thanks to the instructors — I wish them patience and more recognition from management. I had a g2 test here and my examiner was not a very nice person. I was treated poorly anytime I tried to voice a reason for my small mistakes. My examiner was an old white lady named Jody and she claimed that I was rude when I just tried to have a conversation with her. This lady said "unfortunately you passed" once the test had ended and completely soured my mood. She also slammed the door of my instructors car after and threatened to change her mind after the test. Read Less

So the other day, I was on my way to the drive test centre and there was a car with a driving school sign on it. This car was in front of me the from mapleveiw and king right up until the centre. The driver ran two stop signs while I was behind them. When we got to the test centre, I noticed an examiner getting out of the vehicle and walking away. I talked to the driver and he failed NOT because he ran the stop signs, but the examiner claimed he was too hesitant and took too long to proceed, hence impeding traffic!!!! He never did that, even once! This mental patient wanted him to rush through intersections controlled by stop signs!! And the best part about it...SHE NEVER NOTICED THAT HE ACTUALLY RAN THE STOP SIGNS!! How can garbage like this person be even employed there??? Horrible, absolutely horrible. These examiners need to actually know a thing or two about driving before they test people... Read Less

Wait times are extremely long and the employee I had for my driving test (G) was tremendously rude. I am not one to blame others, I believe we need to take responsibility for our actions, but I can say with confidence that I failed my test because of this employee. Absolutely terrible. Read Less

If it was possible to give negative stars I would definitely be doing that. This one star is a lie, this place is just a scam. You have to go through the proper channels to get your drivers license and our province has really dropped the ball here. My wife did her exam for her G license at this house of b.s. and failed. She literally had made up laws written against her, i.e.. you aren't allowed to speed, but you should speed past this truck, cut him off, to make the exit, because that's what the examiner said she should have done. Or following too closely to another vehicle, I didn't realize that you are supposed to give 8 car lengths, the 3 car lengths my wife gave wasn't good enough. There are so many holes in what the examiner wrote out on my wife's test, she made up stuff to nit pick on. Bottom line here is that this woman that conducted the exam for my wife got into our car having already failed my wife as it was her first attempt at her G. They don't make enough money from those of us searching our couch cushions for loose change to buy gas with, they need to make sure we at least pay for this exam twice. I'm sad for the state of our country if you keep letting these idiots run it. Oh and I almost forgot, my wife had to wait almost 3 hours to even have the examiner come out as they "lost her paperwork" and they apologized knowing they made an error there, only to send out a woman who probably doesn't have a drivers license herself. I did my g1 exit test yesterday and it was quick, the examiner, she's so nice and very comfortable to be with in the car. I passed and I am so happy, its not bad at all. the centre is quiet not too many applicants. Read Less

I've already written a review of this useless place, I just need to add something and educate the public. For the love of God, ladies and gentlemen, please stop referring to those village idiot examiners as instructors. Those examiners are not instructors, are in no way qualified to teach anyone or anything, and have zero knowledge about driving. They are uneducated monkeys off the street who were handed a sheet (a tablet as of not too long ago) and told where to mark. At least other test centers have examiners that are professional and know a thing or two about driving. The pathetic excuses for human beings at the Barrie test center should never be allowed near anything with wheels, never mind allowing them in cars with people who are under a lot of stress because they are trying to pass their G1 exit or G2 exit tests. If your time and money are things that are of value to you and you don't appreciate being treated like a piece of trash, stay far away from this place. Read Less

I call either the line is always busy or it's a voice machine asking you for your information I had to repeat calling 3 times and they always hung up on me and to try again later. I do it again and it happens again. Going in there the waiting time is extremely long and every worker there is either rude or miserable. No help at all. I'm surprised nothing has been done. Examiner failed me because I didn't accelerate to merge onto highway while there was a huge transport truck beside me. Also, he said I didn't look left and right when exiting a parking spot. Obviously I did look, otherwise I couldn't have noticed the child running around beside his family's car. VERY RUDE VEEY RUDE VERY RUDE DOESN'T CARE IF YOIRE NERVOUS THEY JIST WANT YOUR MONEY. As others have posted, the wait times are very very long, in large part due to the insufficient staffing. The first time I went, I was trying to exchange an out of country licence and had to wait several hours only to find out I didn't have all the necessary paperwork; I will give the staff member credit, it was an unusual licence that I expected to have more troubles with but she simply pulled out her reference material and told me what I needed. After obtaining the necessary paperwork, I cam back and again waited about 90 minutes. Once I did get to the front, the process was pretty simple and easy. I have been told many people have found this place very efficient and polite. I do wish I could say I've had the same experience. To keep things short, far too many of my concerns were put to the side and ignored, no matter how persistent I was. Will continue to go to Orillia for any further testing/drive test situations if needed. Hopefully the staff and overall company will eventually be better. Read Less

Waiting hours- over an hour the first time, 1:50 the second time ( after an hour and a half when there was only one clerk at the desk for 30 minutes, a lady walked in and thanked us for being patient "... we are understaffed today..." Both times got different answers. The solution offered did not make any sense, so I got to another location in Newmarket. Even worse ( 40 minutes before I got to to the clerk). Told me a whole different story about the "solution" to my problem. After I called MTO I understood that there are to ways to go about my problem - I guess if the 3 answers from the clerks were combined and ''cleaned'' one could peace together the write answer. All in all the workers in drive test are incompetent and overworked, the waiting hours are terrible the facilities are understaffed. I lived in Alberta for a while, the difference is remarkable.
