I'm grateful for the opportunity to gain hands-on heavy equipment training through Transport Training Centres of Canada. Dale was very knowledgeable about the machines and took the time to answer questions clearly while helping me build confidence operating equipment that initially felt intimidating. I appreciated that he adapted the training to focus on the areas where I needed the most improvement and gave me plenty of practical experience on the machines. He also emphasized the importance of equipment maintenance and daily inspections, including greasing, checking fluids, and proper upkeep procedures. The training environment provided exposure to real-world conditions and challenges, which helped make the experience practical and valuable. I recently completed the Heavy Equipment Operator program and had a really positive experience overall. I want to give a huge thank you to my instructor, Dale. He was absolutely outstanding throughout the training. Dale was knowledgeable, patient, professional, and genuinely cared about making sure every student understood both the operation and safety aspects of the equipment. You could tell he takes pride in what he does, and it made a big difference in the learning environment. He made the training enjoyable while still keeping things professional and hands-on. I also want to recognize the campus manager for doing a great job keeping things organized and running smoothly. It’s clear there is a strong effort being made to support students and provide a quality learning experience. One suggestion I would make, and I mean this respectfully and constructively, would be to provide instructors with a proper set of tools and basic maintenance equipment. I think it would be very beneficial for students to learn simple repairs and day-to-day maintenance procedures as part of the program. It would also help instructors quickly handle small maintenance issues when needed during training. I believe adding this would make an already strong program even better and give students even more real-world experience before entering the workforce. Overall, I’m very thankful for my experience. Very disappointed with our experience regarding my son’s Air Brake (Z) endorsement certificate through TTCC Barrie. My son successfully completed and passed the course on March 25, 2025. Unfortunately, we did not receive the certificate until almost five months later, despite multiple follow-ups. During our email exchanges, TTCC staff acknowledged that the certificate had been returned and needed to be resent. One staff member also admitted the issue was caused by a mailing/postage mistake on their end. Because of the delay, the remaining time to submit the certificate to DriveTest before the 180-day expiry period was extremely limited, and the certificate ultimately could not be processed. What was most frustrating was the inconsistent communication afterward. Initially, TTCC indicated they would help rebook my son into another course so a new certificate could be issued. Later, management reversed that position and denied responsibility, despite earlier written admissions acknowledging the mailing issue. We contacted both the Ontario Safety League and the Ministry of Transportation for guidance and were advised that re-enrollment is typically the corrective solution in situations where certificates are not delivered within the required timeframe. This situation was stressful, time-consuming, and completely avoidable. I understand mistakes can happen, but accountability and consistent customer support matter.
