I had my G test with James, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. I felt very nervous throughout the test because of his communication style. When I said "afternoon," he didn't respond, which left me unsure if he had heard me. During the drive, he also raised his voice at me, which made me even more anxious and affected my confidence. I understand examiners need to ensure safety, but I believe a calm and respectful approach would help test-takers perform at their best. I hope future candidates have a more supportive experience. I recently completed my G test at the Guelph DriveTest Centre, and my experience couldn't have been more different between my first and second attempts. My first examiner was David. On the surface, he seemed friendly, gave clear instructions, and was easy to talk to. However, throughout the test I couldn't shake the feeling that the friendliness wasn't genuine. It felt like he was waiting for a small mistake that could later be blown out of proportion, and unfortunately that's exactly what happened. The reason I failed was because he marked a left lane change as a "dangerous action." This was the lane change required to enter the highway. There was another vehicle approximately two car lengths away, another vehicle behind me, and I believed the maneuver was both safe and necessary. To me, calling it a dangerous action felt excessive and unfair. I also heard from a friend who told me they saw the same examiner pass a caucasian person after what they believed was a more dangerous mistake in the parking lot. I didn't witness that myself, so I can't verify it, but hearing that only added to my concerns about how consistently these tests are evaluated. My second attempt was a completely different story. My examiner was Joanne, and she was absolutely amazing. If you want to know what genuine professionalism and kindness look like, she's the perfect example. She gave very clear instructions, was calm, encouraging, and genuinely seemed to care more about whether I was driving safely than looking for technical reasons to fail me. Here's the part that really surprised me: at the exact same location where I failed the first time, Joanne instructed me to make the same left lane change. Once again, there was a vehicle roughly one and a half car lengths away. I hesitated because of what had happened during my first test, but she reassured me that it was safe to make the lane change. That moment alone made me question how two examiners could view essentially the same situation so differently. I don't normally leave reviews unless I genuinely believe something wasn't right. This experience convinced me that being a safe and technically sound driver isn't always enough. The examiner can have a significant influence on whether you pass or fail, and that inconsistency is disappointing. Thankfully, Joanne restored my confidence in the testing process, and I'm grateful to have had an examiner who focused on safety, fairness, and clear communication. I passed my test in the second attempt. Read Less

⭐️ Driving Test Center Review: Top Marks! I highly recommend this center for anyone preparing for their road test! My experience here was exceptionally smooth and stress-free, which is truly all you can ask for on test day. Key Highlights Punctual and Efficient: My test started exactly on time, which helped ease my nerves. The entire process, from checking in to finishing the drive, was very well organized. Professional and Fair Examiner: The examiner was incredibly professional, calm, and clear with all instructions. They maintained a fair and encouraging atmosphere, making me feel at ease rather than intimidated. They focused strictly on my driving ability and adherence to the rules, which made the evaluation feel objective. Clean and Comfortable Facility: The waiting area and facilities were clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable space before the test. Clear Signage/Parking: The center's parking lot and check-in procedure were clearly marked and easy to navigate, reducing pre-test confusion. Overall, I had a great experience and passed my test with confidence thanks to the professionalism and friendly environment at this Driving Test Center. A friendly note: the highway speed limit is 70 which makes it easy to merge lanes and pass the test. If you're looking for a center that treats you with respect and keeps the focus on a fair evaluation, this is the place to book! Read Less

Got all the way there and waited outside for approximately 25 minutes with about 15+ others, door to the test centre locked. When the woman inside felt like it was convenient to her, she unlocked the door to let everyone in, and then yelled that whoever has a road test can’t do it due to inclement weather. Most of the women that work here are very rude. I heard some of them talking sarcastically about customers and trading jokes between each other not seeming to care about the fact that they are in complete earshot. It's very unprofessional and you would think that they would put a little more care into treating people kindly since it's clear most if not all are here full-time. I did not bother complaining in person about any because I can tell the supervisor is not pleasant either. She was speaking so condescendingly to a woman who seemed to be an immigrant. Avoid this location at all costs. Went Monday at 1230, as an adult trying to write my g1 for the first time. No clear instruction when you enter the small, ridiculously hot space, with people lined up out the door and no help desk. After 30 mins I realized people where getting numbers from somewhere and had to ask other patrons where/how to get one. Almost 2 hours later, only 2-3 desks open the whole time and only 5 computers to write written tests at, although only 2 seemed to be in use at a time. As I'm watching people do their vision tests I notice that not once has one of the vision test stations been cleaned. NOT ONCE. Then their computers go down and I wait another hour and decide to leave as I likely won't even get to write the test before 5 at this point and I find out today that they were down for 2.5 hrs. I went back as soon as they opened this (Tuesday)morning and again people were lined up out the door, with no air conditioning inside. I take a number and wait 2 hours. I continuously have to wait outside because it's so hot inside and I am extremely claustrophobic I didn't ant to have panic attacks. When it was nearing my number I came inside and went to the bathroom then all of a sudden night hear my number called in one breathe "A116, A116 last call" I run out of the bathroom and push through sweaty people and am already told that I missed it and have to take another number, I said I have been here for three hours today, 4 hours yesterday and just came running from the bathroom, and it still says my number at this wicket at the top of the screen. And she says YOU MISSED IT TAKE ANOTHER NUMBER. Another 2 hours go by before I can finally write this stupid g1 test while a guy starts yelling and makes a scene, having police called and because of the distraction, I fail and the computer prompts me to go back to the counter. I go back and wait when suddenly one of the staff members turns to me and yells at me to "stop staring at her it won't make her go any faster". Startled I say sorry I wasn't staring at you I'm just doing what the computer told me. And no reply. I write it again and the staff member goes on lunch, no one during this time does anything with any of the completed written tests. During this time I overhear another staff member tell a young man that it was "stupid to fail the signs part of an M1" and go onto tell him how irresponsible young drivers are etc etc. I spent 4 HOURS Monday and 6 HOURS Tuesday just to write the knowledge test. and had to bring my own lysol wipes to wipe down the computers and vision test stations because they weren't cleaned once in that time. Disgusting, rude, hot, horrible... Read Less

Read Less

Terrible. Hundreds of people jostling and elbowing and only two counters open. Staff are extremely rude and yelling at everyone. Temperatures were incredibly hot and I was covered in sweat and close to passing out. When they said it was a 2 hour wait I started to have a panic attack and left. This is more like 1960s Soviet bureaucracy than a modern Canadian office. Maybe it shouldn't be privatized? I already passed the commercial test and just need the slip of paper with my license on it. Unacceptable. Read Less

Horrible place to do your test. Rude staff that don't know how to treat their clients. The supervisor which is the lady in red uniform shouldn't be working there. She isn't educated propery on how customer service should regulate and doesn't know how to smile. Overall, bad experience!!! This place should shut down. It's also crazy busy & dirty! Read Less
