I met the President of North American Transport Driving Academy (NATDA) in May 2025. My intention was to complete the AZ program, which I had initially started at another driving school in Mississauga where I did not receive adequate training. While the school itself was acceptable, the customer service and follow-up appointments required to complete my licensing process were poorly managed. After several months, I received a call from that school asking me to return and complete my program. By that time, I had already decided to move on. I attempted the AZ road test five times at DriveTest in Hamilton. Based on my experience, I can confidently state that I did not fail due to a lack of driving skills. In at least two out of the five attempts, I believe the outcome was influenced by inconsistent evaluation standards from the examiners. My journey continued with NATDA , where I was received professionally and with a clear plan for success. I can confidently testify that the school is exceptional. It operates with high standards and employs instructors who are committed to going the extra mile to ensure student success. The academy provides all necessary learning materials, including books and training kits, to help students understand the trucking industry comprehensively. Instructors spend dedicated one-on-one time with students both in the truck and after each session to assess strengths and weaknesses, and to develop strategies for improvement. The training is entirely practical and personalized, with no reliance on virtual or Zoom-based instruction. The President of the company is actively involved and ensures that student expectations are consistently met. My long-term goal in obtaining the AZ license was not only to qualify as a driver but also to gain a deep understanding of the trucking industry, as I intend to establish my own fleet in the future. Therefore, learning the rules, regulations, and operational standards is critical. Despite having a very tight schedule balancing another job, I was able to continue my training. The President, Ben, was extremely supportive he offered me a part-time position while I completed my training and also waived my fees. I would strongly recommend NATDA to anyone interested in pursuing a DZ or AZ license.
