I had hoped not to feel it necessary to write this review as I don't have any complaints about the curriculum, however I seem to not be alone in my experience with my instructor, Ian McKay. While he is perceptive and knowledgeable - frequently predicting mistakes before they occur - he is unnecessarily rude and if anything made me more anxious behind the wheel which led to me making mistakes in my attempts to avoid getting chewed out. I would let it go if it was a single incident but there was not one lesson where I wasn't treated with disrespect I would never extend to him. Between my experience with Mr. McKay and my brother's experience with another of your instructors who screamed at him during his first ever session behind the wheel, I wonder is this is the norm for YD instructors to behave so unprofessionally.

The in car was driving instructor was great Bill! however the Customer service was HORRIBLE. we were not told when we signed up that you have to meet the driver at his designated spot for the in car lesson. We had to drop off and pick up at this location 15 min from our home. It took 6 months to complete the in car lessons as they are limited on drivers and our son went 4-6 weeks between lessons. His final lesson, we were sent an e-mail that our son would be picked up from the house at 10:30(in car test was 12:15) by 10:43am the instructor never arrived. We called him, his e-mail from head office said the pick up spot was at a different location. Bill arrived at 11:12 at our house. MY son lost 42 min of in car lessons before test. Albeit, my son passed however I wanted compensation for the 42 min lost and was wanting that time to put towards a highway driving in car lesson, that I was happy to make up the price differential, I was given a hard no, "your son passed, we won't compensate the difference. so, YD could have made additional money for the highway lesson and requested a discount for for the 42 min lost and had another client from our other child,...now another company will. DON'T DO IT....go elsewhere! again Bill in car teacher was great but the Customer Service, is a hot mess. Find a company that picks up from home, there's many, our work schedules had to revolve around this company with no respect for my son's school schedule. don't do it

I liked YD. Although, once I got to the in-car lessons my instructor (bald) was sooo rude, he seemed like he didn't want to teach me anything, gave me a bad rating on EVERYTHING after each lesson. He ...
I liked YD. Although, once I got to the in-car lessons my instructor (bald) was sooo rude, he seemed like he didn't want to teach me anything, gave me a bad rating on EVERYTHING after each lesson. He made me more anxious on top of already being slightly anxious being behind the wheel. He was straight grumpy the whole time. Even yelled at me for minor mistakes.
I had to pretend I broke my arm before my next lesson because I was so full of anxiety :(
A few weeks later I switched instructors and told them the truth. I was with Darius and he was much nicer & patient. I had a better rating on everything after just one lesson. I felt so calm driving. I passed my G2 on the first try. Thank you.:)
I wish I could give a 1 star rating and a 5 star but 3 will do

Hi guys. This is the best driving school in Canada. I am so satisfied with their service. They went above and beyond what they had to do. My instructor, Rod, was knowledgable and passionate. He corrected me without raising his voice and he was such a great source of road tips. I highly recommend them. I actually went with YD instead of a cheaper option and all I can say is "you get what you pay for." Kudos to Rod and YD. You guys are truly excellent.

All the instructors are amazing, they are very thorough about every lesson they teach. They address the whole class and interact with everyone making sure everyone understands and answering any questions students might have. The driving instructor I have is awesome. They work on making sure students are prepared for driving and passing the road tests. They are very informative about driving and going into more details of how to drive safe and spotting any problems. I highly recommend Young Drivers for anybody no matter what age. They are by far the best instructors for anyone wanting to learn how to drive.A+++

In class instructor was great. The in car instructor Kelly was snappy and barky. Makes you feel worse after each lesson like you've learned nothing. Not someone who should be instructing driving.

I think it really depends on the instructor. It really has to be someone you get along with and are comfortable with. I learned a lot from my first instructor but I felt very nervous around him and to some extent he made it seem like I wasn't meant to drive and I wasn't learning fast enough, so I took that to heart and almost developed a phobia. Then, an incident happened where I accidentally hit the curb to cause a flat tire. It wasn't a huge deal but it was embarrassing and he was quite upset. I took a break then started with a new instructor and it was like day and night. He made me feel great about myself, we got along because we had similar personalities and he was able to observe and pick up on what I was doing wrong right off the bat and corrected it. I've never laughed so hard with anyone teaching me how to drive. I think he's great. So great that I'm not going to disclose his name til I pass so he doesn't get booked up lol.

I am a regional trainer with Young Drivers. I am now in my twentieth year of what I originally considered to be a temporary job. What changed for me was learning that Young Drivers figured out many solutions to driving problems that I had never considered. We teach how to avoid virtually all collisions including rear enders and head on collisions. We also teach our instructors how to teach effectively, keeping things positive and creating a positive learning environment. The positive feedback I get from my students is very rewarding and what keeps me looking forward to teaching each new class and student.
The average driver crashes 4 or 5 times in their life time. You can learn to avoid all that and be a confident driver with Young Drivers.

I had hoped not to feel it necessary to write this review as I don't have any complaints about the curriculum, however I seem to not be alone in my experience with my instructor, Ian McKay. While he is perceptive and knowledgeable - frequently predicting mistakes before they occur - he is unnecessarily rude and if anything made me more anxious behind the wheel which led to me making mistakes in my attempts to avoid getting chewed out. The in car was driving instructor was great Bill! however the Customer service was HORRIBLE. we were not told when we signed up that you have to meet the driver at his designated spot for the in car lesson. Hi guys. This is the best driving school in Canada. I am so satisfied with their service. They went above and beyond what they had to do. My instructor, Rod, was knowledgable and passionate. He corrected me without raising his voice and he was such a great source of road tips. I highly recommend them. I actually went with YD instead of a cheaper option and all I can say is "you get what you pay for." Kudos to Rod and YD. You guys are truly excellent.

All the instructors are amazing, they are very thorough about every lesson they teach. They address the whole class and interact with everyone making sure everyone understands and answering any questions students might have. The driving instructor I have is awesome. They work on making sure students are prepared for driving and passing the road tests. They are very informative about driving and going into more details of how to drive safe and spotting any problems. I highly recommend Young Drivers for anybody no matter what age. They are by far the best instructors for anyone wanting to learn how to drive.A+++
