My friend and I attended this AA branch for an overseas driver licence conversion. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.
From the beginning, the staff member assisting us (a lady wearing glasses) was rude in her manner. After confirming that we did have an appointment, she reviewed our documents, including translations, overseas licences, passports, and application forms.
She stated that the information about an expired licence on the form was incorrect, even though we had carefully checked and confirmed that it was correct. She then said that the date of birth was missing from the translation, even though the overseas licence itself does not include a date of birth. When we explained this, she checked our passports, where the date of birth was clearly shown.
The only issue raised was that the month of birth was written in our native language in the passport. I translated it into English for her, and it also matched the information on the application form. Despite this, she responded in a dismissive and disrespectful way, saying she could not speak our language, and refused to proceed—even though all documents were valid and consistent.
She then spoke to another staff member and informed us that she would not help us with the conversion.
What was most upsetting was the strong feeling that she did not want to assist us from the beginning. This was confirmed when we visited another AA branch the same day, where our documents were accepted without any problem and the licence conversion was processed smoothly.
This was the first time in New Zealand that I have felt treated differently and disrespected because of my background. We are immigrants, but above all, we are human beings and deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect like anyone else.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future customers are treated in a more professional, respectful, and inclusive manner. Read Less
