I have already spent a huge amount of time practising mock tests and studying the official DVSA learning materials for the theory test. On top of that, I even went out of my way to study the Highway Code and the Traffic Signs handbook separately to make sure I fully understood the rules.
After all that preparation, I sat the theory test twice in Swansea and genuinely felt very confident both times. I carefully re-read all the tricky questions, reviewed my answers properly, and made sure everything was complete before submitting. I only flagged one or two questions for review, while the rest I felt certain about.
What I cannot understand is why my actual results are always around 40 or 41, while in mock tests I consistently score 47 or 48 on second and fourth test. If I can repeatedly achieve high scores in the practice materials, how is it possible that in the real test I cannot even reach 45?
This is what makes me seriously question whether there is an issue with the actual test system or whether the official learning materials are not properly reflecting the real exam standard. The gap between the practice experience and the real test experience feels very strange and inconsistent.
In my home country, I also passed theory driving tests using English without any problem. So why does the UK theory test feel unusually confusing and inconsistent despite all the preparation and official study materials?
At this point, I honestly feel extremely frustrated. If candidates can spend so much time studying the official materials and still repeatedly fail in a way that does not reflect their mock test performance, then something clearly needs to be reviewed regarding either the learning materials or the testing system itself.
I’ll probably try a different test centre for my next attempt and see whether there could be any issue related to the testing system at this centre.
I also want to make it clear that this feedback has nothing to do with the staff at the test centre. The staff were professional, polite, and helpful throughout the process. My feedback is specifically regarding the accuracy, consistency, and realism of the theory test system and the official learning materials. Read Less

There is a multistory car park immediately behind The Pearson building. Pedestrian entrance not well signposted from outside. Ask, or search for Grove House.
