While I do agree with the reviews that he is patient and calm, things did not work out with Richard as well as I would have hoped. I booked my driving test for April as my last driving instructor told me to book it around that time, however, Richard was not happy about this and was quite rude. He stated “i’m not a car rental place you can’t just use my car for a test” however, I wasn’t just using him for a test because I was doing lessons with him weekly. I was not informed that we were meant to discuss tests and book a date together. Even though in his terms and conditions sheet it’s states this, he did not give me the terms and conditions until my fourth lesson. I said to him that I should have been given this on my first lesson and his response was “well you’ve got it now.” His car is quite filthy with wrappers in the side of the car door and in the compartment below the radio screen and I felt this was quite unhygienic. He also decided to put duck tape over my speedometer which in my opinion and other driving instructors is quite unsafe. I messaged him asking if we are having another lesson at the same time and he said no and he “decided to let me find another driving instructor”. I’ve asked for an explanation on why and he ignored my message. In my lessons, I don’t feel like I have made any progress nor maintained my skills that I learned from my previous instructor, in my opinion it’s been a waste of time and money. Read Less

I would highly recommend Richard as a driving instructor. He is incredibly patient and calm, and will explain things clearly and try different approaches if you are struggling to grasp something. He focussed on making sure I had the skills and confidence to drive in unfamiliar situations, not just learning to drive to pass a test in one specific location. He was also very accommodating with fitting lessons around my availability. Thank you Richard for getting me to pass my test, and for building up my confidence with driving. Read Less
