The worst driving academy I've dealt with in London. After filling in the online form for an intensive driving course, I was contacted by Sam. We had an introductory lesson during which he assessed my driving skills. Immediately afterwards, I was charged £882.50, which covered the initial 1.5-hour lesson, 15 additional hours of tuition, and car hire for the driving test (£45 per lesson hour and £140 for the test car hire). We agreed to spread the remaining lessons over the following nine days. However, Sam failed to attend five of those days (a total of eight hours of lessons) without giving any prior notice. On several occasions, I travelled all the way to Stratford only to find that he wasn't coming, wasting both my time and money. The excuses varied, including having to take his children to school, needing the car for another driving test, and traffic. On some occasions, he didn't respond to my calls or messages at all. To make matters worse, two of the remaining three lessons were covered by a different instructor from the academy. One of those lessons was the day before my driving test, leaving me uncertain whether Sam would even turn up on the day of the exam. Because of how unreliable the service was, I decided to book lessons with another driving academy. They were far more professional, more reliable, and even charged less (£40 per hour). At the time of writing, I still have not received a refund for the lessons that never took place. Until this issue is resolved, I cannot recommend this academy at all. Read Less

I passed my test on my first time in Wanstead today all thanks to Mutual driving school, and especially thanks to my driving instructor Heron. I had absolutely no experience in driving or operating a vehicle and was very nervous about getting behind the wheel. Heron was incredibly patient, supportive, and well-structured in his teaching approach and always provided constructive feedback and reassurance throughout the entire learning process. He helped me build my confidence until I felt comfortable and capable to be on the road and pass my test. I would highly recommend Heron to anyone looking for a reliable and encouraging driving instructor. Thank you so much! Read Less

I passed my test first time thanks to my instructor Leah. I passed first time with Matt! I’ve been having lessons on and off for the past 14 years, including two failed tests. Matt has been the most patient and professional driving instructor I’ve had out of 4 in my life. Always on time and took the time to explain everything. I was pretty rusty after a 4 year gap, but after 20 hrs I felt confident and ready to go. Bottom line: use Mutual and ask for Matt. 🚗 Read Less

My instructor, Nathan was brilliant. I learnt the basics from another instructor but Nathan really helped me improve my skills and become a safer driver. He gives you lots of great tips to make it easier to drive well and although I took my test a few times, he was a great supporter and gave me the right amount of constructive feedback and positive reinforcement. I did have a few issues with the school but these were resolved and I am so pleased I met Nathan and passed my test with only 4 minors. Read Less

I couldn’t recommend Mutual Driving School enough. Having had a few different driving instructors, Sam was the best! He was extremely patient, motivational and hilarious. He is really straightforward and full of helpful tips and techniques, always tailoring the lesson to the specific learner and how they learn best. Learning with Mutual Driving School just made the whole driving experience much more pleasant than I thought it would be. And I passed! Which I thought would take way longer than it did. Thanks Sam! I had an excellent experience with Mutual Driving School. I would recommend it very highly to anyone wanting to do their driving lessons. My instructor was Peter and he went above and beyond in order to help me pass my test. He is an exceptional instructor with excellent communication and teaching methods. I am very greatful for everything my instructor peter and everyone else at mutual done to help me pass. Never had any single problem whatsoever and communication was always excellent. I had a great experience at Mutual Driving School! It was really straightforward from the start (first phone call) and I had the first lesson booked the same week. Great prices but also amazing teaching - Sam was very honest during my lessons which made it a lot easier. From the first few classes Sam set up a realistic timeline for getting my license and also encouraged me to book my theory and driving test. I always felt really encouraged and classes were fun and relaxed. I couldn't thank Sam enough for all the chats, laughs and for being such a patient teacher - and for helping me pass my driving test the first time! Thank you!! Read Less

After a long journey, I never thought that I would finally pass my driving test, but it finally happened! I found that the instructors at Mutual are very straightforward and friendly. I was looking for someone that could keep me interested in carry on with my driving and they did. Overall, my experience was a combination of learning effective driving techniques told by someone that definitely got my mind set, in fact at times I felt I was with a life mentor as well! :) If you decide to go for Mutual I would recommend Russel and Sam, they are great and a lot of fun to be with. I had a very negative experience with my instructor Sam. It started off with the first lesson where he was over an hour late. The tardiness persisted throughout the lessons. From the get go I felt that my instructor didn't believe in me and had an overall pessimistic demeanour. He kept the music on, took personal phone calls, constantly checked out his phone during the lesson. On more than one occasion he cancelled on me at the last minute or forgot that we had an appointment. He made me feel like I couldn't pull off driving, saying that if he couldn't get me to pass that no one would. On the last lesson we had (which I didn't know would be the last) he told me that I had gotten a bit better and that if I hadn't he was ready to give up on me. The last I heard from Sam he had to cancel a lesson for personal reasons and then never wrote back to me to reschedule. I signed up with RED, am paying less, have a nice instructor who doesn't take phone calls and would you have guessed it, my driving has improved! I think the positive reviews here are mostly planted.
