I last took and failed my driving test 37 years ago. I was nervous, lacked confidence and decided at that point, that I was unlikely to ever be a car driver. However earlier this year, due to a change in family circumstances, I had to reconsider this and approached John for lessons. After a summer of John's patient tuition, guidance and good humour (though eye-watering jokes!), I passed my test 'first' time! His approach is thorough - enabling you to not only pass the test, but also training you to become a thoughtful and competent driver, instilling good practice and teaching you to think. His memory aids and catchphrases have been, and continue to be, really helpful in these early days of driving - with phrases like 'kiss the parrot' in your head, who could ever fail to check their blind spot! His informal approach helped me to chill - and he gave me the encouragement and confidence I needed to succeed. I recently passed my driving test at the first attempt, and I can't thank John enough for all of the guidance, advice and support he provided throughout my lessons with him. Always accommodating and patient, John made me feel extremely prepared and confident for my practical test, which ultimately paid dividends. John is very friendly, easy to talk to, very patient and adapts to the way you learn. Before I started my lessons with John I had another instructor and I didn't have a clue what I was doing and thought I would never pass my test, but John explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. I recently passed my driving test with John getting only one minor and this was due to his excellent driving instructor skills, he was incredibly patient and never got annoyed or frustrated with me even when I forgot I had a lesson which was often! He was always on time and never cancelled a single lesson. I would certainly recommend John to anyone who wants a friendly instructor and is nervous about starting driving as he puts you completely at ease from the start.
