The vehicle was stopped on a main road without being pulled in to the kerb, partially obstructing the live lane of traffic. There were no hazard lights in use, and other vehicles were required to move around it.
From my understanding of the Highway Code, this may be in breach of:
- Rule 242, which states that drivers must not stop or park where they would obstruct the road or cause danger to other road users; and
- Rule 270, which states that drivers must not cause an unnecessary obstruction of the road or leave a vehicle in a dangerous position.
Additionally, Rule 116 advises the use of hazard warning lights when a vehicle is temporarily obstructing traffic to warn other road users.
I appreciate that learners need to practise various manoeuvres; however, I was concerned that this situation did not appear to be carried out in a safe or appropriate location.
I wanted to bring this to your attention so that it can be reviewed and, if necessary, addressed with the instructor involved.

Would like to recommend sandy. I’ve had 2 hour lessons over the past 3 months, over this time he helped build up my confidence driving . Sandy stays calm and level headed during lessons which in turn helped me remain calm in new driving situations and make great progress over the last few months. Many thanks as passed the first time.

I would highly recommend using Go Driving, Sandy was a great instructor and I passed first time. I had 2hour lessons every week for a couple months and slowly built up my confidence. Sandy was incredibly patient and made sure I felt ready to take the practical test. My sister has also previously passed with Go Driving so I would highly recommend using them!

Andy is an amazing and committed driving instructor, I’m so happy I found him. Andy’s lessons are well structured and I felt like I was making decent progress each week under his guidance. I had a very awkward living/working situation throughout the summer but Andy was so flexible and accommodating of that, going above and beyond to help prepare me for the practical test. I passed first time which I am super proud of and I owe a lot of credit to my instructor! Wholly recommend GoDriving if you’re thinking about learning to drive, very reasonably priced for the quality of lessons!

When choosing a driving instructor it can be very difficult to know how good they are. I was VERY lucky to find Andy; an excellent instructor. He is very friendly and most professional. I really appreciated his calm and helpful manner. English is my second language and he made a lot of effort to check if I understood each lesson. Would recommend him very highly.

The vehicle was stopped on a main road without being pulled in to the kerb, partially obstructing the live lane of traffic. There were no hazard lights in use, and other vehicles were required to move around it.
From my understanding of the Highway Code, this may be in breach of:
- Rule 242, which states that drivers must not stop or park where they would obstruct the road or cause danger to other road users; and
