DON'T BOOK ROCCO TARANTINO! He is rude, abrupt and cannot teach. Always late, would not take me back home after my lessons and would leave me to walk home from wherever was convenient for him. Always wanted cash for tax evasion reasons. Taught me things that were wrong and caused me to fail. His car was really old and had alarms going off, which he told me to ignore. He tried to book more lessons than needs to get more money out of you and did not care about actually teaching you how to drive. Don't know how he is still an instructor. Read Less

Rocco Tarantino was BY FAR THE WORST DRIVING INSTRUCTOR I HAVE EVER HAD and i would not recommend him to anyone! He has a very dated way of teaching and most things he taught me were not correct and caused me to fail. After taking my test with Rocco, he did not even take me straight home, as he made me walk home from the testing centre, whilst i was crying and upset that i had failed. This was a 25 minute walk to my house. Every driving instructor i have asked about whether this is normal, agreed this is definitely not a done thing and very heartless. I then went with another instructor who could not believe what i had been taught and basically had to reteach me from scratch, to train out my bad habits from Rocco. After 3 lessons with my new instructor, he told me that i was a very good driver and informed me that if i actually followed my own instincts, instead of driving based on Rocco's rules, i would have passed first time (which an examiner also said this to me as well). I also had feedback from the examiners that what i had been taught by Rocco was incorrect and caused me to fail. I passed with Steve first time with 1 minor and i could not recommend him more! Rocco would cut my lessons short, so that he could attend his own personal plans and would agree to end my lesson at my place of work, but then would refuse to do this in the lesson because it was inconvenient for him, making me late for work. He did not explain anything whilst driving and was more interested in gossiping about other drivers and looking at houses, than teach me how to drive. He would simply take over control of the car and not inform me what i need to improve on or if i did anything wrong. Rocco was more concerned about protecting his car i.e. small potholes, forcing me to swerve into the opposite lane, even when there was oncoming traffic sometimes. Which when i did this with my new driving instructor, he informed me this is the quickest way to fail as the potholes i was made to avoid were so small that they were not an issue to any car. The car was tired and would randomly set alarms off (including in my test), which is not really meant to happen. He even tried to force me to do my test in my own car, instead of his because his was "very old" (his words). I explained that i did not feel comfortable changing the car on the morning of my test, as i had done all of my lessons in his diesel car, so was not used to driving my Petrol car and he made me feel very guilty for wanting to use the instructors car, which i was paying for. He always wanted me to pay cash, so he did not have to put it through the books and he was not accommodating in the slightest. I found him rude, abrupt and the car had over 450,000 miles on it, which very clearly showed when driving. Instead of actually doing his job and teaching people to drive, he would only choose to take on learner drivers that he thought would be easy to pass, so that it did not affect his pass rate, which i think is an appalling mindset to have. Rocco might be a little cheaper than other drivers but honestly you could not pay me to ever recommend him to anyone, he needs his instructor license revoked and needs to retire.
