My Wife who is a non driver took classes from the Alans School of Motoring and passed the driving test today in her First attempt. Driving instructor Peter is a very good instructor and built confidence in her learning to drive.

Strong 0/10 avoid this company at all costs, just after your money they will try get you to do 2 hour lessons at a time as a standard hour is not satisfactory to teach a person how to drive apparently...
Strong 0/10 avoid this company at all costs, just after your money they will try get you to do 2 hour lessons at a time as a standard hour is not satisfactory to teach a person how to drive apparently?!?! The only reason i took the east Lothian instructor was because she was only one available to take me at the time of enquiry & it is clear why she was the only one left. Spent 8 months with her to be told she cant fit me in for lessons & i was to go use another car to sit my test. I done exactly that i got a rental & brought my test forward and passed first time with the help of a family member NOT what i learnt from the instructor i was assigned. When i informed my instructor i had passed the response i got was “congrats but I'm surprised” which says it all.. only after your money!! Avoid these lot!!! If you are looking to start lessons try string it out as long as you can to get a busy, decent instructor because i assure you they will do a better job!!! Be aware this company can just turn around and tell you they cant fit you in anymore and leave you stranded weeks if not days before your test. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Very unprofessional. Spent 300 pound with William for 10 hours who taught me a very bad approach to driving, and then retired before me completing the driving test. This means that I have to pay again...
Very unprofessional. Spent 300 pound with William for 10 hours who taught me a very bad approach to driving, and then retired before me completing the driving test. This means that I have to pay again 300 pound for starting over once more with a different car and have to wait another 2 months to take my test. Wasted time and money. I got another driver - Peter, who instead of picking up from where I left off started back from 0.
When I brought that up with the driving school, they didn't refund me, or organised a new instructor for free. Frankly, they were unbothered and seemed not to care. Don't waste your time and money.

Davy is a fantastic instructor: calm, clear, friendly, professional.
His skilled yet laid-back attitude made me feel very relaxed and confident when we were out driving. All of his instructions, teaching and tips were excellent and easy to understand. The pace he taught at was great, and I would definitely recommend Devy to anyone wanting to learn to drive. A huge thanks for all the work he’s put in to helping me pass first time.

Driver instructor I had shouted at me when I made mistakes! I always blocked booked and near the last Of my 3rd block booking, with about an hour session to go, he never returned my calls for so not only did I loose out on hours money I had wasted all my time and money with ten driving and go nowhere!! Extremely dissapointed. Would not recommend at all!!

Had Peter as my driving instructor and he was amazing! He was very patient and I really enjoyed learning to drive with him! I had tried to learn to drive 5 years ago with another instructor in Aberdeen and the experience with them had put me off driving, so I was very happy to find someone who was as kind and patient as Peter! Definitely will be recommending him to anyone who wants to learn how to drive :)

Wow!! Never experienced such shocking customer service in my life time until I walked into this place today!!! Decided to pop to enquire about lessons! As I walked in the woman was on the phone I could see her eye roll as I opened the door! I asked if she had a few minutes spare to enquirer about prices and booking! She then decided to tell the person on the phone she would be a minute and told me to write my details down! She then carried onto tell me she never knew anything about rates etc! I was to write my details down and I would get a phone call from an instructor! Which she then told me she never knew when this could be!!! Disgusting service.

Had John for my lessons and one of the funniest and most helpful instructors, any questions you've got he'll answer and help you through anything! Let's you get straight behind the wheel and doesn't waste time on helping you improve. Doesn't just feel like an instructor but a good mate at the same time who you can sit with and feel relaxed when driving. Thanks a lot again john!!

Terrible terrible management service , when booking with this school, please please be aware that if your not happy with your progress the "manager " / "owner " of Alan's school of motoring will inform you that "it's not his problem " contact the instructor for a refund....... ( bear in mind you payed "him " your hard earned cash ) he will tell you it's Not the responsibility of "Alan's school of motoring "as " he's given your money away on bank transfer " ...... To a se...lf employed driving instructor.............You "don't have a contract with him" ..... ( please ask him for one ) Which he will " not " tell you when booking lessons.... So it's no longer his problem.... He's very rude . Bear in mind when you enter the office you think you are dealing with a company..... Please ask to see his terms and conditions........ This driving school is one of the best value for money and yet it's standard are one of the best! I have just passed my driving test with Alan's yesterday and I highly recommend this school to anyone currently looking for an instructor. I had Paul who was always so flexible and accommodated to my busy schedule. Lessons were always lots of fun were molded to what I needed to work on.

Davy is a fantastic instructor: calm, clear, friendly, professional.
His skilled yet laid-back attitude made me feel very relaxed and confident when we were out driving. All of his instructions, teaching and tips were excellent and easy to understand. The pace he taught at was great, and I would definitely recommend Devy to anyone wanting to learn to drive. A huge thanks for all the work he’s put in to helping me pass first time.

Driver instructor I had shouted at me when I made mistakes! Had Peter as my driving instructor and he was amazing! He was very patient and I really enjoyed learning to drive with him! I had tried to learn to drive 5 years ago with another instructor in Aberdeen and the experience with them had put me off driving, so I was very happy to find someone who was as kind and patient as Peter! Definitely will be recommending him to anyone who wants to learn how to drive :)

Wow!! Never experienced such shocking customer service in my life time until I walked into this place today!!! Decided to pop to enquire about lessons!
