Regretfully booked several lessons in advance. Told him it had been a while since I had been behind the wheel and was a bit rusty. I was driving at night on unfamiliar roads, in an unfamiliar car, and he did nothing to alleviate an already stressful situation. He only has two modes, either constantly distracting you with "funny" stories and anecdotes as you're trying to concentrate, or panicking and shouting at you for minor errors. I feel like I am now a worse driver after my lessons with Steve as it has knocked my confidence.

Did one lesson with Steve when I was getting back into learning to drive after failing my test when I was 17. I told him I was anxious and although I'd driven before it was 10 years ago and I wanted to start from the beginning. There wasn't any teaching done other than being shouted at when I was either in the wrong gear, stalling etc. His humour was also racist/sexist. Not sure how anyone could think that's appropriate. At one point when I pulled at the side of the road he stepped out of the car for a smoke break. Safe to say I didn't book any more lessons and I'm glad I didn't book a block without doing a couple of hours first. His prices are some of the cheapest in Fife but be warned, they're that price for a reason.

Steve was the best instructor I could've had. He was always very patient and understanding when mistakes were made, he can also have a laugh and that contributed to making me feel extremely confident and relaxed behind the wheel. I would recommend Steve to anyone who is looking for a driving instructor in the Fife and Perthshire area.

Very impatient and shouts a lot. I feel very uncomfortable and anxious getting into the car with him. Asked a friend who is also going through lessons and she makes similar mistakes as me and her instructor never shouts. I’m a learner not a professional driver!! I should have never of been treated this way. Steve has destroyed my confidence with driving. If you want to learn how to drive i definitely do not recommend this place.

Turned up on wrong day for my son's third lesson, waited only 5 minutes past the lesson start time for the rearranged lesson (he'd rung the doorbell first 2 lessons but not this time), when messaged straight away to say my son was home he didn't return to provide the lesson. When we requested a refund he wanted paid for the wrong day lesson and the one he drove off without providing. Eventually sent a cheque made out in the wrong name and for the unacceptable amount. Has not replied to communication since.

Steve was a fantastic instructor for me. He took me from complete novice to test ready in four months. Was very patient and his instructions were always very clear and easy to understand. Even now after passing my test one year ago I still talk through some of the manoeuvres in my head as if Steve was sitting next to me. There were a few things I struggled to complete and Steve allowed me to practice, practice and practice. My lessons were always two hour slots. Steve always arrived early and was never late. Cannot recommend Steve highly enough.

If you are looking for a sexist, racist, impatient man with homophobic tendencies then this is your guy! After having four of five children successfully pass their test quickly with a good instructor, the fifth had her learning interrupted by a quicker than expected relocation so we had to source a new instructor. After two hours of confidence destruction, I wasn't going to review but today I discovered another young woman who had a similar experience with Steve Hartley. If you choose to ignore this review please do not book a block booking until you have had a trial lesson. Not surprisingly he has no waiting list and can fit you in on a cancellation very quickly.

Regretfully booked several lessons in advance. Told him it had been a while since I had been behind the wheel and was a bit rusty. I was driving at night on unfamiliar roads, in an unfamiliar car, and he did nothing to alleviate an already stressful situation. He only has two modes, either constantly distracting you with "funny" stories and anecdotes as you're trying to concentrate, or panicking and shouting at you for minor errors. Did one lesson with Steve when I was getting back into learning to drive after failing my test when I was 17. I told him I was anxious and although I'd driven before it was 10 years ago and I wanted to start from the beginning. There wasn't any teaching done other than being shouted at when I was either in the wrong gear, stalling etc. His humour was also racist/sexist. Not sure how anyone could think that's appropriate. Steve was the best instructor I could've had. He was always very patient and understanding when mistakes were made, he can also have a laugh and that contributed to making me feel extremely confident and relaxed behind the wheel. I would recommend Steve to anyone who is looking for a driving instructor in the Fife and Perthshire area.

Very impatient and shouts a lot. I feel very uncomfortable and anxious getting into the car with him. Asked a friend who is also going through lessons and she makes similar mistakes as me and her instructor never shouts. I’m a learner not a professional driver!! Steve was a fantastic instructor for me. He took me from complete novice to test ready in four months. Was very patient and his instructions were always very clear and easy to understand. If you are looking for a sexist, racist, impatient man with homophobic tendencies then this is your guy!
