When my wife and I switched from a motorhome to a caravan, it was on the understanding that I'd never tow it as my autistic, overthinking brain made me anxious just at the thought of it! My wife therefore did all the driving when we went away and as a result spent a day with Fliss to boost her confidence. However, I soon realised it wasn't fair to be a passenger all the time, especially on long journeys, so I decided to try a towing experience at a recent NEC show. Unfortunately, I hated every second of it and thought I would never be able to tow our caravan. Luckily, we saw Fliss at the show, she recognised my wife and we all got chatting. I told her about my towing experience and she suggested some training tailored to my individual needs which sounded ideal so we arranged a date once the show was over. I arrived for my training feeling nervous but Fliss soon put me at ease thanks to her affable, easy-going manner. After about ten minutes we were just chatting generally and almost without realising, I was towing without feeling anxious. My confidence really started to grow and by the end of the three hours I was left wondering what I'd been so worried about. Throughout the training, I felt encouraged rather than under any pressure and Fliss was able to push me out of my comfort zone just enough without sending me into a panic. She explained everything really well which definitely helped with my understanding of certain manoeuvres. I was even reversing like a pro by the end which is something I never thought would happen!
