I contacted John to book my first lesson in February 2024. I was passed by September 2024. I had been with previous instructors which I felt weren’t going anywhere over long periods of time and purposely dragging things out for money. I found John on Facebook and decided to give him a go, and it was the best decision I had made. He was very patient, very honest and we spent lessons going through what I was the most nervous about ( round abouts ). He always made me feel at ease and explained everything in detail and did his best to get me over my fear. He always turned up on time for lessons, not once did I get cancelled on. John started out reliable — on time, patient, and gave useful feedback. After three months of lessons, one day he just never turned up for our lesson. I chased via text and email with genuine concern for him but got nothing back. He had good reviews and spoke very highly of himself so I was surprised to be left on read. Weeks later, I was struggling to find another instructor during the busy period. He didn’t remember who I was and only reluctantly passed me on to another instructor. The new instructor mentioned John had become too busy with new learners, which may explain things but doesn’t excuse the lack of communication. With my test approaching, this left me stressed and doubting my progress. Thankfully, my new instructor was excellent and I did pass, but being dropped without warning was unprofessional and the last thing a learner needs. Reliability and communication are key for a business owner— sadly, John fell short on both. I passed my test 3 year ago in February. Before I started with John I was a mess I had been with previous instructors who absolutely killed my confidence. John built up my confidence over time he was patient and willing to allow me to grow and succeed in my own time rather than trying to rush me. I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor not only is John a great person to be taught by but a great person in general.
