When I first started learning to drive, Benett was my first driving school, so I genuinely thought my instructor was good. I had nothing to compare it with at the time, so I trusted that I was learning properly. However, once I booked my driving test, my instructor completely ghosted me for about a month — no replies, no lessons, nothing. That’s when I switched to a new instructor at another school called Genie, and I immediately realized how poor my previous lessons had been. The difference was huge. With Genie, I learned more in a few lessons than I had in months at Bennett. My previous instructor had never taught me the car controls properly such as the headlights, windscreen wipers, screen washer, demister, or air conditioning. Never covered the “show me, tell me” questions, never taught me how to drive with the sat-nav, and never showed me which were the test routes. I now understand that he was often helping with the pedals himself, which made me think I was driving better than I really was. Keep in mind that i already have had lessons for 5 to 7 months and had spent around 1200 pounds! Even though Genie’s lessons are slightly more expensive per hour, I’ve made far more progress in much less time. Following a young lady learning today. Absolutely shocking. I have no idea what she was being taught... she hit the kerb 4 times between Peatmore roundabout and Eden roundabout (200yrds). She was then accelerating into a roundabout without as much as an indicator or attempt at touching the brake, bounced off another kerb. Any driving instructor should have got her to oull up, compose and explain the errors. There certainly was little instruction. Oblivious to everything around. Not the young persons fault, but absolutely shocking way to teach. Read Less
