Recently attended western trucking school it was quite the experience I’d say. I did the weekend class highly recommend it really enjoyed losing my weekends for TWO months but they really help you with anything you need and they make sure you pass and leave that school licensed. I took the night class and was extremely satisfied with the outcome. I did have sufficient experience with the day staff to compliment them with their training aswell. If you're serious about trucking, the whole group will be supportive beyond the norm. With their assistance I was able to land a job out in San Diego where I am on the road at a minimum of 8-10 days and able to take however many days off as I wish. Making great money and gaining valuable experience, I'm happy where I'm at. For those who do not wish to be on the road, there is plenty of local opportunity my other peers decided to take. Personally I chose this career to be a trucker with aspirations to be an owner operator. I'm grateful with the schools support, their time and effort. Read Less

The staff and instructors care about your future, the instructors Brad & Steve make sure you get enough practice and behind the wheel time to pass your behind the wheel test at the DMV, they answer any questions you might have, if you need more practice in a particular area, they will let you know. I just went through the 40 hour refresher course at the Western Truck School in Bakersfield. I've read so many bad reviews of it that I wanted to write my own review. My whole experience here was amazing! The equipment was top shape, the instructors were very helpful, and there was a lot of driving involved. I had plenty of time to learn and practice the skills and go driving around town. Bakersfield is a good place to learn--not too much traffic (most of the time) and lots of different environments. Phil is a good instructor, and he taught me how to shift up and down both up-hill and down-hill. The other current instructor, Matt, is very easy going and a good instructor as well. I learned how to do the skills from him. Before I went there, I researched many schools around Bakersfield. All of them either wouldn't talk to me, or couldn't speak English, or wouldn't offer a shorter program than 160 hours. Western is the only truck school in town that does the 40 hour refresher. They also help with job placement, which is a very important thing if you don't already have a job lined out. I give the team at Western Truck School 5 stars.
