In short: Make sure you get someone who isn’t miserable about their life First session, absolutely went great with instructor Kimberly, was my first time behind the wheels- I initially started being very nervous but then I was more comfortable, ended great- she even said I did great for someone whose never driven before Second session, even better than the first with instructor Bob, great personality was always talkative and had a good sense of humor, definitely made me improve from the first time, said I should just be driving more & that I’d be great Third session, quite possibly the worst 2 hours I’ve ever spent with someone who’s a teaching instructor, (DO NOT GET INSTRUCTOR LYDIA) maybe the first half hour was just going in turns in an empty neighborhood, even then with the slightest mistake I’d make she’d be asking why I wasn’t doing exactly as she said in the most passive aggressive tone, felt like I was in an exam rather than in a LEARNING environment (I’ve only driven twice for God’s sake, what do you expect lady?), that wouldn’t even be the worst part, I could be perfectly following the speed limit (my eyes were on the speedometer almost always as well as checking the road) and she’d mark me for doing it wrong, I stopped PERFECTLY at stop signs able to see both sides of the road (still empty by the way) and she’d be saying I didn’t check, I’m sorry you’re so short that you can’t see from your own window?? She wouldn’t one bit be telling me to for example check my windows, check when I’m turning, etc. pretty sure there isn’t a single rule that says I need to he absolutely fluent and driving like a professional especially not in the third lesson of all things, both of my previous instructors would warn me if I didn’t check or kindly remind me, which actually made me BETTER rather than going against me all passive aggressive & acting like it’s a competition to constantly insult someone who’s a learner. Still more, instructor Bob told me the DMV doesn’t care however you adjust your steering wheel you can have your hands however you feel comfortable, this woman spent nearly all of our time just constantly berating me for having my hands on the wrong positions of the steering wheel, kept saying I was turning my hands wrong even when I was doing it as normally as can be, instructor Bob from yesterday just showed me how to do it correctly and then said if it’s more comfortable and easier to do it my way to just go with that, which actually WAS easier than trying to get adjusted to something I was not used to. You’re supposed to be an instructor, not make me feel as if I’m constantly being ragebaited, this isn’t even the worst part of the experience for god’s sake we were doing a turn, before stepping into the road I checked both sides twice, went slowly onto the road to not be endangered, this woman detaches the passenger mirror blocks my field of view, for the right side as I’m literally trying to see, and then blames me for a car ongoing to us and honking, grabs the steering wheel and tells me to go faster, excuse me? Are you mentally slow? She did a mock test and half of the fails were because of speed, sorry I don’t wanna speed up and actually go being careful, when we’re going through the most narrow, smallest, and unpredictable roads? What is your problem? Genuinely ruined my mood, ruined my day, I was looking forward to this session and I’m genuinely regretting ever scheduling this appointment, horrible experience. Extras: In both experiences before this third one, after we picked up the next student I’d immediately be escorted home within at least 10-15 minutes, it’s been 40 and I’m still in the car? Instead of instructing the student to actually take me home, like the previous two have done, she picked up McDonald’s?
