If you are thinking about enrolling at Camino Real Career School, please stop, read this entire review, and protect your hard-earned money. This institution operates on predatory financial practices, extreme instructional negligence, and a complete lack of regard for student success. Once they have your money, you are entirely on your own.
Here is the unfiltered reality of what happens at this school:
1. The Enrollment Trap & Shady Financial Double-Dipping
The financial operation here is deceptive. I was required to pay a $700.00 cash deposit out of pocket just to secure a seat in their commercial driving program. Shortly after, the State of California's WIOA workforce training program fully funded my tuition, cutting a direct state check to the school for $3,800.00 to cover my training in full.
Because the state training voucher made the school 100% whole for my tuition, keeping my personal cash deposit on top of full state compensation is an illegal double-recovery of funds and unjust enrichment. They are billing the government thousands of dollars while simultaneously pocketing personal student cash for the exact same seat.
2. Dangerous, Overcrowded Conditions & "Zero Limits" on Enrollment
The school has absolutely no limit on the number of students they accept, creating an overwhelming and completely chaotic learning environment. The classrooms and yard are constantly packed to capacity. Instead of getting quality, focused instruction from a trainer, you are thrown into a massive crowd where you have to fight just to get close to a vehicle. It is impossible to properly learn commercial driving maneuvers or pre-trip inspections when you are competing with dozens of other stressed students just to get a single minute of attention.
3. Broken-Down Equipment & Wasted Time
The equipment at this facility is a joke. The training trucks are in terrible condition and constantly breaking down right in the yard. You spend hours waiting around to practice, only to find out the truck is out of service again. To make matters worse, the administration repeatedly cancels scheduled driving tests at the last minute because their equipment isn't ready or because of total administrative disorganization. They completely waste your time, stall your progress, and stretch out a process that should only take a few weeks into an endless nightmare, forcing students like myself to withdraw out of pure frustration.
4. The Second You Drop, You Are Ghosted
The moment you realize the school is a mess and try to withdraw, the administration turns on you. They completely refuse to communicate, ignore phone calls, and dodge every single email trying to clear up a refund. I had to physically serve them with a formal Written Demand Statement via USPS Certified Mail, which was delivered directly into their office on June 1, 2026. True to form, the school administration completely ignored the legal deadline and refused to return my unearned deposit.
The Bottom Line:
Because the school refuses to do the right thing, I have been forced to escalate this to the highest state authorities. I currently have an active compliance case open with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE Case No. C26-0971), the investigation has been transferred to the Office of Student Assistance and Relief (OSAR), and I am moving forward with filing a case in Pomona Small Claims Court to have a judge force the owner to hand back my money.
The owners count on students feeling overwhelmed, giving up, and walking away so they can pocket your cash. Do not fall for their sales pitch. Go to a legitimate, professional trucking school that respects your time, maintains working trucks, and doesn't try to double-dip on government funding. Stay far away!

Camino Real Truck Driving School was definitely an experience. I faced several obstacles along the way, but all the hard work and grind finally paid off. A huge thank you to the instructors and staff for helping me succeed. Johnny is tough, rules with an iron fist but I wouldn't ask for a better instructor than him he's an outstanding coach. Thanks to Fernando for helping me through situations that needed attention, and to Vanessa for always being helpful and answering any questions. Great team, great school, and I'm grateful for everything they did to help me earn my CDL.

Great school. Awesome instructors who are willing to help you out with getting your commercial license. Instructor Johnny knows how to teach and will guide you if you’re willing to put in the work. I would recommend this school to anybody who wants to get their CDL. I showed up to the classes consistently and was able to get my license in three months. Thanks to all the instructors who helped out; Johnny, Fernando and Norberto. Oh and Vanessa and Alicia from the office were also helpful as well.

My husband walked in today to ask for information regarding classes, times & prices , etc. The Secretary or whatever the woman is in the front was very unprofessional, rude and cannot even answer questions that she would bring up, she told my husband repeatedly that if he didn't understand her or what? She also said that it's not like she's speaking Chinese or some other language. Overall her attitude was nasty, sometimes owners need to look at that because they are face of the company and if she's like that imagine if the people working there are like that too? No thanks.

If you want to learn how to drive a tractor-trailer, they will teach you. The office staff, and yard instructors are very polite, down to earth. If you show initiative, and put in the time required to learn, you will get what you came for. The school isn't pretty, neither are the trucks you learn on, but the trucks that you do your road training & Dmv testing with are nicer, you won't have any problems on the road or with the DMV. Everyone learns differently, most instructors teach differently, learn how to deal with your education in a way that works for you. Practice your air brake inspection, in cab, & pre trip as you wait for your turn in the truck to practice your yard skills. Shout out to Alicia,Nancy,Mauricio, Frank, & Ariel for your role in my training. Don't be afraid to ask for help, everyone including other students are friendly & willing to help you any way they can. I even learned from my mistakes lol

This is not the worst thing, the most ridiculous thing is that the newest trucks you are driving to DMV taking driving test were made in 1980's. The rest turcks are OLDER that those, some are even scrapped vehicle. If the truck broke down while you are testing, you STILL charge by school . DO NOT wasting your time here!!!! Todos los camiones proporcionados a los estudiantes son extremadamente viejos, algunos volantes de los camiones son tan pesados como una PIEDRA ENORME. Necesitas pararte en el Cluth para que funcione. Esto no es lo peor, lo más ridículo es que los camiones más nuevos que conduce al DMV que tomaron el examen de manejo se hicieron en los años 80. El resto de los turcos son MÁS ANTIGUOS que esos, algunos incluso son vehículos desechados. Si el camión se descompuso mientras está realizando las pruebas, AÚN sigue cobrando por la escuela. What a giant waste of time and money! From day one this place was unprofessional and it just snow balled from there. $1400 up front for a few weeks of classes/training/materials and then three chances...
What a giant waste of time and money! From day one this place was unprofessional and it just snow balled from there. $1400 up front for a few weeks of classes/training/materials and then three chances to pass your test. Sounds great, but it's not that simple. One thing after another happened over the few weeks resulting in an entire day spent at the DMV and not being able to even take the test! The truck/bus was not available for class/training at least 8-10 times in these weeks, they did not state that a drug test OR physical exam was required, the instructors blamed the office employees for everything and the women in the office constantly had an excuse for their short comings. Then, after all was said and done, when at the DMV for over FIVE HOURS, they finally told me that I needed a passenger endorsement. I don't even need the license to drive a bus! I only want my Class B License to apply for city jobs to drive straight truck non-passenger endorsement! I was livid! This is absurd! How could all of this go overlooked after taking my $1400?!?!?! What a waste of time and money! Unprofessional and unorganized and dishonest company. Stay away!

I did my training @ this school and they are really good trainers there and office personnel I have a blast and so much fun learning how to drive big rigs and they will set you up with a job once ur done you're training and have ur CDL recommend this school get a hold of Alicia and she will do her best to get you what ur looking for. And to all the shit talkers out there of this school I got my CDL and have a great job and make more that 75K a year. And if you are going to go get ur license u need to be patient and put a lot of effort to get you're CDL And never loose you're cool and focus.. hopefully a lot of people see my review and go to this school

This school helped me out pretty damn good my career has a bulk of the Transportaion catagorie i begun as a vehicle recovery man (repo man) to pizza dude spaning a 4 city grid and several years at a N.E.M.T non emergency medical transporter ....i intially was reluctant to go for my class A for the reason i want to continue with passenger transport ...... I was informed id be capable to drive class B from my class A with the inclusion of getting my passenger endorsement ...... The transition into the truck i found i had two ways of learning it like a Natural or mechanicly ... The instuctors will help you more when they know your wanting to do a thing for your future progress and that your not attending the school for another item to tac onto your Resume....as any intructor in just about any job oriented criteria would do .......this school i can attribute some Virtues i gained for strictly on the road plus the addtion OBSERVATIONS to reading signs some general ordinances O.T.R. the united states or Mexico and Canada in addition i did get taken by a mainstream trucking company .... The few other reviews i noticed on here that discredit camino real NONSENSE trucking is a manly man job ....!!

When I finally got a chance to do my pre inspection test at school the teacher had to leave early so I never got to it.not worth it

This school should be closed down for the poor quality in the training. I had taken a Forklift course here, but I was completely disappointed when they made me use a computer with windows Xp and watch video some video from the 90's with poor visual quality. To make matters worse I had to use their earphones, which smelled like sweat and then gave me a rash later on the day. They make you take the test in the middle of entrance, where most of rude employees were talking and laughing constantly throughout my test. The actual driving of forklift portion was a complete disaster. The irony that their own forklift did not pass regulations it was not up to code. They don't have a proper training course just a parking and four cones. My instructor had major problems even starring the forklift. It turned off at least 8 times on me and did not even have a seat belt. After the eighth time my instructor just passed out of complications. Sure I gave my license now but I'm not fully aware on driving a forklift. I did not bother making a scene for a refund because the people were simply running a crooked school, which was not worth $25... Zreo Stars a simple heads up !

Although it wasn't one on one, the classroom, yard, road and the DMV instructors were all great, would recommend it to those who really are looking to focus, learn and are eager to obtain their class A class B.

If you want to learn how to drive a tractor-trailer, they will teach you. The office staff, and yard instructors are very polite, down to earth. If you show initiative, and put in the time required to learn, you will get what you came for. The school isn't pretty, neither are the trucks you learn on, but the trucks that you do your road training & Dmv testing with are nicer, you won't have any problems on the road or with the DMV. Everyone learns differently, most instructors teach differently, learn how to deal with your education in a way that works for you. Practice your air brake inspection, in cab, & pre trip as you wait for your turn in the truck to practice your yard skills. Shout out to Alicia,Nancy,Mauricio, Frank, & Ariel for your role in my training. Don't be afraid to ask for help, everyone including other students are friendly & willing to help you any way they can. I even learned from my mistakes lol

All the trucks provided to students are extremely old，some trucks' steering wheel are as heavy as a HUGE STONE. You need to stand on the Cluth to make it work. This is not the worst thing, the most ridiculous thing is that the newest trucks you are driving to DMV taking driving test were made in 1980's. The rest turcks are OLDER that those, some are even scrapped vehicle. If the truck broke down while you are testing, you STILL charge by school . DO NOT wasting your time here!!!! Todos los camiones proporcionados a los estudiantes son extremadamente viejos, algunos volantes de los camiones son tan pesados como una PIEDRA ENORME. Necesitas pararte en el Cluth para que funcione. Esto no es lo peor, lo más ridículo es que los camiones más nuevos que conduce al DMV que tomaron el examen de manejo se hicieron en los años 80. What a giant waste of time and money! From day one this place was unprofessional and it just snow balled from there. $1400 up front for a few weeks of classes/training/materials and then three chances...
What a giant waste of time and money! From day one this place was unprofessional and it just snow balled from there. $1400 up front for a few weeks of classes/training/materials and then three chances to pass your test. Sounds great, but it's not that simple. One thing after another happened over the few weeks resulting in an entire day spent at the DMV and not being able to even take the test! The truck/bus was not available for class/training at least 8-10 times in these weeks, they did not state that a drug test OR physical exam was required, the instructors blamed the office employees for everything and the women in the office constantly had an excuse for their short comings. Then, after all was said and done, when at the DMV for over FIVE HOURS, they finally told me that I needed a passenger endorsement. I don't even need the license to drive a bus! I only want my Class B License to apply for city jobs to drive straight truck non-passenger endorsement! I was livid! This is absurd! How could all of this go overlooked after taking my $1400?!?!?! What a waste of time and money! Unprofessional and unorganized and dishonest company. Stay away!

I did my training @ this school and they are really good trainers there and office personnel I have a blast and so much fun learning how to drive big rigs and they will set you up with a job once ur done you're training and have ur CDL recommend this school get a hold of Alicia and she will do her best to get you what ur looking for. And to all the shit talkers out there of this school I got my CDL and have a great job and make more that 75K a year. And if you are going to go get ur license u need to be patient and put a lot of effort to get you're CDL And never loose you're cool and focus.. hopefully a lot of people see my review and go to this school

This school helped me out pretty damn good my career has a bulk of the Transportaion catagorie i begun as a vehicle recovery man (repo man) to pizza dude spaning a 4 city grid and several years at a N.E.M.T non emergency medical transporter ....i intially was reluctant to go for my class A for the reason i want to continue with passenger transport ...... I was informed id be capable to drive class B from my class A with the inclusion of getting my passenger endorsement ...... The transition into the truck i found i had two ways of learning it like a Natural or mechanicly ... The instuctors will help you more when they know your wanting to do a thing for your future progress and that your not attending the school for another item to tac onto your Resume....as any intructor in just about any job oriented criteria would do .......this school i can attribute some Virtues i gained for strictly on the road plus the addtion OBSERVATIONS to reading signs some general ordinances O.T.R. the united states or Mexico and Canada in addition i did get taken by a mainstream trucking company .... The few other reviews i noticed on here that discredit camino real NONSENSE trucking is a manly man job ....!!

If you cancel the appointment, there is $200 fee they will charge you. If their truck broken and do not go to the DMV. You will get nothing but disappointed.

I studied all the material for my permit at home and once I got my permits I went back to the school and they would tell me to go home and study at home cause they didn't have time. When I finally got a chance to do my pre inspection test at school the teacher had to leave early so I never got to it.not worth it

This school should be closed down for the poor quality in the training. I had taken a Forklift course here, but I was completely disappointed when they made me use a computer with windows Xp and watch video some video from the 90's with poor visual quality. To make matters worse I had to use their earphones, which smelled like sweat and then gave me a rash later on the day. They make you take the test in the middle of entrance, where most of rude employees were talking and laughing constantly throughout my test. The actual driving of forklift portion was a complete disaster. The irony that their own forklift did not pass regulations it was not up to code. They don't have a proper training course just a parking and four cones. My instructor had major problems even starring the forklift. It turned off at least 8 times on me and did not even have a seat belt. After the eighth time my instructor just passed out of complications. Sure I gave my license now but I'm not fully aware on driving a forklift. I did not bother making a scene for a refund because the people were simply running a crooked school, which was not worth $25... Zreo Stars a simple heads up !
