This is a great driving school. I mostly got one teacher, “Raul”, and he was amazing. He taught me well, instructed clearly, helped if needed, and when over everything whenever a problem occurred. I passed! I'd like to give a big shoutout to my instructor Donovan, who is calm, patient, professional, and good at teaching. He made me BELIEVE I can drive and that confidence is critical.After failing my first driving test, I stopped practicing for 3 months and picked it up again after finals. I had 5 sessions (10 hours) with this school. 1st Choice allows me to request my instructor to teach me through and through, which helps me build trust. After knowing more about my driving history, Donovan let me practice driving from the first minute of classes to the actual test. I was fully prepared for all kinds of situations one can meet while driving (construction, freeway, obstacles, and aggressive drivers). So when I had my test, I was very calm and ready to deal with any situation.I like how easy-going and professional this school is. Sometimes change of schedules happens, inevitably. You know the expression, first impression is the last impression? Well, my first call to this driving school was my last impression that led me to purchase driving lessons for my 16-year-old daughter elsewhere. The woman who answered the phone when I first called came across as very ignorant, scattered and unprofessional. And if she was any indication of who would instruct my baby girl, that wasn't-and didn't happen.I even tried a second time because of the time constraints my daughter had before her permit expired. But the next impression really was my last one. It just would have been worth the price and close location to my home. My child is priceless. I got my license today !!! I previously took lessons with Royal driving school but they were so flaky and the instructor didn't show up to my last lesson. I failed my first driving test back in March because I was extremely Un prepared. I decided I wanted to try again so I tried this school I paid for 6 hours and dmv rental. I had 3 different instructors during my 3 lessons and dmv rental. Gabby was amazing and made me feel relaxed and confident while I was driving. Donovan ( I think that was his name) was very strict but it helped a lot. I didn't catch the last guys name but he made me feel calm as I was very nervous especially since he showed up in a Prius that  felt a lot bigger than the two corollas. Although I did not book lessons with 1st Choice (I did my lessons with Abel's), I did rent their car for my second driving test. Gabby was really nice and friendly and very helpful the morning of my test. We drove to the Culver City DMV and we waited. The line was backed up more than usual but that was no fault of Gabby's. Anyway, I took my test for the second time, and I passed! Gabby was also nice enough to drop me off for another errand after she clocked out from work since it was on the way. I can drive now! I also accomplished my goal of getting my license before age 30! LOL wasn't so sure it was going to happen at first hahahaha Thank you to everyone! If you need to rent a car for your test and you've had a chance to drive different types of cars, or this is the car you've practiced in mostly, you'll be ok. I recently visited First Choice Driving School after I visited its website, researched it on the Better Business Bureau and read positive reviews from many others and I have to admit, it was worth it! I liked how this A-rated and BBB accredited driving school offered private one-on-one driving lessons that helped me finally earn my CA driver's license. I chose Carla to be my driving instructor because I read positive reviews about her and I have to say, those reviews were right!Carla was a very pleasant instructor as she made my experience behind-the-wheel smooth. She was also very professional, punctual, and polite as she offered great driving tips that I believe made my driving experience more fun and safe. I was so pleased with my first appointment with her that I requested to take all of my lessons, about 12 hours worth and the DMV test, with her in the 2003 Toyota Corolla. I did have some behind-the-wheel experience from another driving school back in 2009 and I told Carla about that during my first lesson. She wanted to know how much I already knew about driving and she made it her mission to help me be a safer and smarter driver. She calmly made me be aware of all my strengths and weaknesses behind-the-wheel and whatever I needed help on, she did not hesitate to help me. PICKING FIRST CHOICE DRIVING SCHOOL WAS THE BEST CHOICE EVER.I WORK LATE NIGHTS SO I GET OFF WORK AT 6 AM, SO I CANT TAKE LESSONS JUST ANYDAY OR ANYTIME.FIRST CHOICE TAKES CARE OF THAT. They helped me with the process of getting my license, from the mandatory 6 hours that DMV requires to get my learner's permit to practice throughout the 6 months to the actual day of my driving exam. First choice gave me a mini lesson before my test so that I wouldn’t be so nervous. Iraida was my instructor, she was patient, nice, and answered any question I had about driving. Since I am female I appreciate the fact that at First Choice, I got to choose my instructor. 1st Choice wouldn?t be mine. But you may get lucky with a good instructor, or instructress in my case. The company 1st gave me Gilberto who had a distorted concept of time management. He was late for the first day, stopped at a corner to get food & drinks [Well, he did ask me if I wanted anything which I declined because I didn?t like what I saw coming], and ate on the clock! While at it, perhaps in an attempt to compensate or apologize for his way of ?making the most? out of time, he was giving me pointers with matching sketching and scribbling while munching on his corn on the cob lathered with cream cheese and sipping on his soda. It was horrendous hearing and seeing him eat and talk at the same time. He also summed up the lesson 10 minutes early. I called 1st Choice the 1st moment I got home and asked for a 2nd instructor for the remaining two more days of driving class. They gave me an instructress, Karla. Quite a different experience from the 1st one. She was on time, courteous, and knew enough to give competent driving instruction. She may be a little limited in navigation but there were no lapses in time management here. She even accommodated my request to end the session at a different location. Read Less
