Exceptional Experience with Juan at Guerrero Driving School
I cannot recommend Juan from Guerrero Driving School highly enough! From the very first lesson, it was clear that Juan is not only an expert instructor but also incredibly patient and encouraging. He has a unique ability to explain complex driving concepts in a clear and approachable way, making me feel confident and safe behind the wheel.
Juan’s attention to detail is outstanding—he ensures that you not only learn to pass the test but also develop the skills to be a responsible and confident driver for life. He remained supportive throughout every session, which helped me overcome my nerves and focus on improving.

Juan is the best! He has 40 years of experience teaching people how to drive and definitely has a no-nonsense attitude which I love (and is hard to find nowadays). He helped me prepare really well for the test and I passed on my first try! Just trust him and follow his process and you will be able to drive, safely and responsibly. He showed me parallel parking once and drew a diagram to explain his rules, then boom, I was able to do parallel parking on my first try.
Definitely recommend Juan for those who want to learn!

Juan was a great instructor with many years of experience. He helped me go from never driving at all to passing the exam on my first try. His feedback is direct and if anything needs to be explained in detail, we would pull over and he would draw a diagram to help me understand. He picks you up and drops you off at your home which was also helpful.
We started in a parking lot and worked our way up to more complicated environments as I got more confident. He also has a specialized car with breaks on his side which also made me feel at ease while behind the wheel.

Juan is an exceptional driving teacher with a wealth of knowledge and experience that spans over 40 years!
Juan is conscientious and committed to ensure that you pass the driving test on the first attempt with exemplary results. I’m from Australia where the road rules are different to the extent that we drive on the opposite side of the road so passing on the first attempt is a testament to Juan’s impressive teaching pedigree.
Juan also genuinely cares about your success rather than maximizing the amount of money charged for his services. This characteristic was reflected on many occasions where he turned down additional driving lessons because he thought I was ready to pass the test.
Juan is personable, humorous and a great conversationalist which makes the driving lessons a great experience.
Only recommendation I can give is to trust in his advice and judgment because the results in the end will speak for themselves. I would not hesitate to recommend Juan to family and friends in the future.

Instructor has many years of experience and he knows how best you’ll learn. He will only take you to take the test when you are ready which a win for you. (You won’t be wasting money on retaking the test). Very funny guy, if you allow him to be so. I highly recommend him.

Juan is the Best!!! He had my daughter for her drivers training. He made her feel relaxed and at ease. He is extremely easy going and funny. My daughter said he was calm and never raised his voice. The first time out she was nervous of course but he joked around and made her relax. Juan was patient with her even though she kept stepping on the breaks too hard.The second day out she was excited to meet up with him and said that she really enjoyed driving with him. She says he was like her grandfather.He contacted me before and after her sessions to give me her progress and to let me know she was dropped off safely.I would totally recommend him to anyone looking for help!!

I took about 16 hours in lessons, but everyone learns at their own pace and it's important to not just learn for the test because it will come to bite you at much higher costs if you don't learn to drive well. highly recommend!

I just passed my driving test a week ago - on my first try - thanks to Juan! He's overall a great instructor. Juan emphasizes on teaching his students to be responsive and safe drivers. He can be blunt, but you don't want someone sugarcoating it when they're teaching you how to drive. He has many, many years of experience under his belt; and as a result he's able to quickly point out your weaknesses and works towards fixing those bad habits. He'll pick you up where you request and drops you off too, sometimes we'll pick up or drop off another student along the way, but no big deal.

As a nervous driver I wouldn't recommend juan, he yells when you make a mistake and expects you to know road rules without explaining them properly. Maybe this harsh approach works for some, but defiantly not my thing! Also he collects his next clients during your session and on a couple of occasions had me in the back of the car for Half an hour while his next student drove me home.

I had a really good experience taking classes with Juan. I took 10 hours of lessons with him and passed the test. I appreciate that he doesn't just take people to the test who aren't ready, because he genuinely wants to make sure you know how to drive. He'll give you lots of tough love about your mistakes but you'll definitely become a better driver if you take classes with him.

Juan is a character. He knows San Francisco like the back of his hand and has stories and context every where you go. He can be a little brash, a lot funny, and some times when he'd pick me up I'd be dropping off the previous student or driving his adorable dog along the ride. He gives his rides in a well worn, but beautifully maintained Nissan Altima. This is no white glove modern driving school. What Mr. Guererro provides is honest and comprehensive driving instruction, getting you ready for the realities of driving. Some programs I looked at merely focused on getting you the fundamentals to pass the test. Juan wants to ensure you are confident and capable to tackle whatever the road throws at you, city, suburb, highway, defensive driving, the works. In 4 weeks I went from near zero driving experience to passing my test.

He picks you up and drops you where you want to, which I think it's great.Mr. Guerrero's main goal is teaching you how to safely drive a car. So, of course he gets upset when you make, make and make the same mistake, that can put your life and other's lives in danger. He loves to talk, but it does not mean you need to talk too. Just listen and practice driving.I recommend Mr. Guerrero if you want to get your driving license!

Scam artist, avoid like the plague. Right off the bat he's rude and impatient. He gave me no proper instruction and spent the entire lesson trash talking my driving. He even had me pick up his next student while my lesson was still on. Then he had the nerve to tell my family when I returned, "terrible driver, no technique at all. He needs so much work because he's never going to pass the test like this. Give me more lessons and with luck he might be ready" We turned down his next lessons and guess what? I passed that test two weeks later with only four points taken off (they allow 15). This guy is just a scam artist who will tear down your confidence to get more lessons out of you, take your hard-earned money elsewhere.

He might give you some tough love, but is very supportive and encouraging when it counts.It's true Juan might be an old school kind of guy. And yes, he sometimes has a bite to eat in the car, or combs his hair. But does that mean he doesn't do a great job, or doesn't take it seriously? Of course not! To all the people who wrote the negative comments, I dare you to find a driving instructor of the same quality in SF, without having to pay twice as much money.

I do not understand the good reviews. I mean, it was an awful experience.Here's an example of what I'm getting at:When he asked me to shift into drive, there was gross stale food crumbs all over. He just picked them up and ate them. IT WAS GROSS!He was constantly burping. CONSTANTLY!He kept combing his hair. Not a crime, BUT CUT IT OUT!It doesn't need to be this way. Keep the car clean. Stop eating all the shit that's lying around it, stop brushing your hair for 2 seconds so that you can give me clear, timely directions. It was terrible, not worth the price.

Juan was a great instructor with many years of experience. He helped me go from never driving at all to passing the exam on my first try. His feedback is direct and if anything needs to be explained in detail, we would pull over and he would draw a diagram to help me understand. He picks you up and drops you off at your home which was also helpful.

He can be a little brash, a lot funny, and some times when he'd pick me up I'd be dropping off the previous student or driving his adorable dog along the ride. He gives his rides in a well worn, but beautifully maintained Nissan Altima. This is no white glove modern driving school. What Mr. Guererro provides is honest and comprehensive driving instruction, getting you ready for the realities of driving. Some programs I looked at merely focused on getting you the fundamentals to pass the test. Juan wants to ensure you are confident and capable to tackle whatever the road throws at you, city, suburb, highway, defensive driving, the works. In 4 weeks I went from near zero driving experience to passing my test.

He picks you up and drops you where you want to, which I think it's great.Mr. Guerrero's main goal is teaching you how to safely drive a car. So, of course he gets upset when you make, make and make the same mistake, that can put your life and other's lives in danger. He loves to talk, but it does not mean you need to talk too. Just listen and practice driving.I recommend Mr. Guerrero if you want to get your driving license!

Scam artist, avoid like the plague. Right off the bat he's rude and impatient. He gave me no proper instruction and spent the entire lesson trash talking my driving. He even had me pick up his next student while my lesson was still on. Then he had the nerve to tell my family when I returned, "terrible driver, no technique at all. He needs so much work because he's never going to pass the test like this. Give me more lessons and with luck he might be ready" We turned down his next lessons and guess what? I passed that test two weeks later with only four points taken off (they allow 15). This guy is just a scam artist who will tear down your confidence to get more lessons out of you, take your hard-earned money elsewhere.

This man got me through my driving test first try, with only two classes, and some warm up on the day of the test. He was stern and strict, and very quick to identify the weak points in my driving. He might give you some tough love, but is very supportive and encouraging when it counts.It's true Juan might be an old school kind of guy. And yes, he sometimes has a bite to eat in the car, or combs his hair. But does that mean he doesn't do a great job, or doesn't take it seriously? Of course not! To all the people who wrote the negative comments, I dare you to find a driving instructor of the same quality in SF, without having to pay twice as much money.

He is a true veteran of driving the SF streets.It's easy to become comfortable with Juan, even if you're sensitive to criticism or struggle with the pressures of driving for the first time, because he has your best interest at heart!His tips and explanations are always spot on once you're willing to let go and trust.Passed with a 96! :)

I passed my driving test two weeks ago! I could not have done it without Juan. 1. He was accommodating even with my busy/odd time schedule. 2. He identified the mistakes I make while driving and helped me overcome them.3. He was thorough and helped me practice various scenarios (parking, freeways, backing up etc).Apart from that he was always friendly, even got me coffee sometimes in the morning! I would highly recommend him to anyone who is starting to drive.

I do not understand the good reviews. I mean, it was an awful experience.Here's an example of what I'm getting at:When he asked me to shift into drive, there was gross stale food crumbs all over. He just picked them up and ate them. IT WAS GROSS!He was constantly burping. CONSTANTLY!He kept combing his hair. Not a crime, BUT CUT IT OUT!It doesn't need to be this way. Keep the car clean. Stop eating all the shit that's lying around it, stop brushing your hair for 2 seconds so that you can give me clear, timely directions. It was terrible, not worth the price.
