I had an excellent driving experience with Peter. He is incredibly patient and always took the time to explain everything clearly, even if he have to repeat himself which made me feel more and more comfortable and confident behind the wheel. He is also very observant and pays close attention to every detail, providing helpful feedback that improved my driving skills after each session. His guidance was always constructive, and he made sure I understood not only how to drive safely but also why certain techniques are important. He was also very understanding when I panicked and was able to take breaks with me and thanks to his professionalism, encouragement, and dedication, I was able to improve so much with my driving skill and ended up successfully passing my driving test! Locals on Reddit recommended me Drive-Right Academy. I've been driving with a permit for a year but I wanted to take a few classes with an instructor before taking a test. I was also looking for someone who does pick-ups and drop-offs, which seems to be a rarity. I talked to Susan in email and over the phone. She always replied in a timely manner and gave me appointments within a couple days of my requests. I really enjoyed driving around with Peter. We drove all over town on two Friday afternoons. It was a fun time, even if I vexed him sometimes. Most of all, I've learned a lot. Even after my first class, my husband - who also took lessons with Peter a decade ago - said I am doing noticeably better than before. The Mini was a joy to drive. I passed my driving test after my 2nd class with Peter and have gone on a couple of successful solo trips since. We did not have a good experience with this driving school. My daughter was assigned to Peter, and unfortunately, his behavior made her extremely uncomfortable. During lessons, he asked a large number of very personal and intrusive questions that had nothing to do with driving—about our jobs, where she goes to school, her sister, her grandparents, why her car was registered in a different town, and even details about our family and her stepdad. It felt less like instruction and more like an interrogation. He also made comments about our jobs, which were inappropriate and unprofessional. On top of that, my daughter reported that he used a significant amount of profanity during lessons, which is completely unacceptable, especially when working with a young driver. Additionally, he made comments about her not driving with her stepdad and her biological dad, along with other remarks about her personal situation that made her feel uncomfortable. He also criticized the way she spoke, telling her to stop using certain words and even asking if she was a “moron.” These types of comments are inappropriate, unprofessional, and cross clear boundaries. He also texted her directly on her personal phone number, which I found highly inappropriate given that she is a minor regardless of whether it was simply to notify her of his arrival. My daughter expressed discomfort after each session, and there were multiple incidents that left her feeling uneasy. A driving instructor should create a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment this was not that. It’s also concerning that this does not appear to be an isolated issue. We came across another review describing similar inappropriate behavior from Peter, which suggests a pattern that should be taken seriously. What escalated this situation even further was that after our review was posted, Peter showed up at our home. The audacity of him coming to our house is truly outrageous and left our entire family in complete shock. This was not only unprofessional, but extremely alarming. Our family felt unsafe, and with a husband in law enforcement, steps had to be taken to ensure our daughter’s safety. This should never happen under any circumstance. At that point, starting over with another company for the remaining three hours would have been really difficult so my daughter made the difficult decision to stick it out and finish. However, she dreaded every second of it. Based on this experience and the complete lack of boundaries and professionalism, I cannot recommend this company. I strongly urge others to choose a different driving school especially when considering services that involve pick-up and drop-off at your home.
