I had an excellent experience with Shield Driving School. The instructors were patient, professional, and very supportive throughout the entire learning process. They helped me build confidence behind the wheel and prepared me well for the road test.
A special thank you to Jay Alvarez for his outstanding instruction, encouragement, and dedication. His calm teaching style and helpful guidance made learning to drive much easier and more enjoyable.
I highly recommend Shield Driving School to anyone looking for quality driving lessons and a positive learning experience. Thank you! 🚗✨

I couldn't ask for a more supportive and knowledgeable team to teach my son how to be a good, and safe driver. We had a fantastic experience with Shield Driving School for our teen driver! From the beginning, the staff was friendly, professional, and incredibly supportive. Our instructor was patient, knowledgeable, and really connected well with our teenager, which made all the difference. Another important note is that the instructors come to your home to pick up the student and take them for the driving lesson.
They took the time to build confidence behind the wheel, focused on safe driving habits, and made the learning process less stressful for both our teen and us as parents. The communication was excellent throughout — we were kept informed of progress and upcoming steps at every stage. The instructors texted us after each lesson with updates and what to work on. It also is important to know that the DMV inspectors are very familiar with this school and have a great working relationship and seem to know that Shield students are very well taught.
Thanks to the expert guidance and encouragement from the instructor, our teen passed the driving test with flying colors and feels well-prepared for the road ahead. We highly recommend Shield Driving School to any parents looking for a trustworthy and effective driving school for their kids!

I had a great experience learning from Shield Driving School, and Jay is just the best. They helped me with scheduling the classes, picked me up and dropped me off from my apartment in their car, scheduled the road test, took me to the test in the same car and made sure I knew everything I should expect. I definitely recommend this school to anyone trying to learn driving and get a license.

This is a really great school. I could understand everything I was told (because English is my second language), the theory lessons were entertaining and I could learn a lot from them. Behind the wheel the instructors are calm (I had an opportunity to have lessons with all of them) and helpful. They explain what to do really well, don't yell when things go wrong, and overall it's very fun to spend the time with them, especially with Jay due to his personality (Ben and Dennis are also a very nice bunch of guys) I recommend this school, especially if you're from Meriden or you live nearby. I passed the exam today, my first try. Oh, and they help Spanish speaking people as well, so that's another important plus. 5/5

Very pleased with not only the driver education classroom program but the close personal attention the staff gave to my daughter throughout the process of learning to drive. Jay and his team are fun and easy to learn with and we would highly recommend this driving school to teens and adults!

I was reluctant at first to go to driving school but after just one class I realized that Shield isn't like any other driving school that has you sitting and buried in some book. Being in class is actually really fun and you will never have a problem getting the help you need to learn anything about driving. Can't say enough about how glad I was to go here to get my license.

Shield Driving School is amazing. In class lessons are super engaging with Jay. He not only teaches about driving, but life lessons too. Irving is probably the best thing that could have happened to me while attending Shield. Although I started off not really knowing how to drive, he had enough patience to continue helping me grow as a driver. Every once in a while he would scold me because of a stupid mistake, but in the end, I was able to get a clean sheet and get my license. Without Shield, I wouldn't have my license today. Everyone should go to Shield and get their driving lessons done there. No one does it better.

Loved the experience, I took the alcohol and drug classes with Jay and he gives a lot of information while motivating you to be safe. Took my road practices with Irving, and at first I was so nervous, but he made me feel confident, answered all my questions and went with me to my road test and I passed!! Thank you guys for helping me 😄😄

Jay and Irving are amazing teachers. I actually got my license today 2-10-17. I had to reschedule my driving test because I wasn't metal prepared and Jay was so cool about and happily changed my date....
Jay and Irving are amazing teachers. I actually got my license today 2-10-17. I had to reschedule my driving test because I wasn't metal prepared and Jay was so cool about and happily changed my date. I got extra driving hours with Irving and practiced on my own. I am really great full that I got recommend this driving school. Jay is such a cool guy and does his best to make his students feel comfortable. I have nothing bit good things to say about them and I wish the best for them in the future.

Jay Alvarez, of Shield Driving School provides real community service. My cousin is a senior citizen who was in need of a drivers license. He hadn't had one in years and was overwhelmed by the process to obtain one. The personnel attention Jay afforded my cousin, in obtaining his license, was above and beyond and has made a great difference in his life.

Shield driving school is a place where a man who has policed drivers all his life will share his educational and first hand experiences with his students. Jay Alvarez is an intelligent man and his years as a police officer I believe makes him ten times more insightful than the average driving instructor. A handful of hours behind the wheel and in a desk with jay seems to be worth more than the full program at any other institution from what I've heard from friends. I would strongly recommend the full program to anyone, both young and old. Mr. Alvarez is also fluent in spanish and offers all his services in that language as well. My experience was very rewarding.

We had a fantastic experience with Shield Driving School for our teen driver! From the beginning, the staff was friendly, professional, and incredibly supportive. Our instructor was patient, knowledgeable, and really connected well with our teenager, which made all the difference. I was reluctant at first to go to driving school but after just one class I realized that Shield isn't like any other driving school that has you sitting and buried in some book. Being in class is actually really fun and you will never have a problem getting the help you need to learn anything about driving. Can't say enough about how glad I was to go here to get my license.

Shield Driving School is amazing. In class lessons are super engaging with Jay. He not only teaches about driving, but life lessons too. Irving is probably the best thing that could have happened to me while attending Shield. Although I started off not really knowing how to drive, he had enough patience to continue helping me grow as a driver. Every once in a while he would scold me because of a stupid mistake, but in the end, I was able to get a clean sheet and get my license. Without Shield, I wouldn't have my license today. Everyone should go to Shield and get their driving lessons done there. No one does it better.

Loved the experience, I took the alcohol and drug classes with Jay and he gives a lot of information while motivating you to be safe. Took my road practices with Irving, and at first I was so nervous, but he made me feel confident, answered all my questions and went with me to my road test and I passed!!
