Had a great experience getting my license back in 2017! My local HS offered a course and there’s a couple competitors in town and my friends seemed to have a not bad but not as good time as me.
Everyone complaining about drive scheduling is forgetting that it actually takes time to learn how to be a better driver and scheduling all your drives in a month just to get it done is completely missing the point of school.

John is an amazing teacher and coordinator. He is always very respectful and straightforward. If you take the ~10 minutes to read the contract with your parents/child everything is super smooth and goes by quickly. John was able to help me get all of my drives scheduled around my insane scheduling as I attend school out of town. For those saying that it takes months to get all of your drives scheduled, IT SHOULD TAKE THAT LONG. There should be no reasonable expectations that you can complete all 6 drives in less than 4 months. Driving for 50 hours is a lot of time, and after every drive John/the instructor takes the time to explain what to work on and where you excel. I just got my license this past month and the 11ish months it took from start of the class to the date of my last DMV appointment was perfectly on schedule with what any reasonable expectations should contain. If you're looking to get your license quick and easy, you're doing it wrong. Take the time and put in the effort and John and his amazing staff will make you/your child into an amazing driver.

I was a student in one of the teen courses a while back. After a month of classes and consistently attending my classes I have a lot to say about the school. Firstly, I will address the class portion. My teacher, Gustavo, was very knowledgeable on the topic of driving. He was able to answer any student questions in depth and made sure that the student understood. Additionally, Gustavo would do a detailed review of the materials before any course examination. Overall, Gustavo is a very great teacher with a passion for educating teenagers on how to drive defensively. Another thing, I like about how the school operates is allowing the kids to take a 15 minute break in which they can go outside and grab food from the nearby Jimmy John’s or walk around. It allows the students to take a break and rewind before moving on to the next portion of class. Secondly: the drives. Before writing this review I read through some reviews. Most claimed that the scheduling of drives would take up a lot of time and was tedious. Honestly, so far, I have not had any problems scheduling drives with the school. The owner would usually reply to my voicemail 1 to 2 business days. Tip for anyone looking to schedule drives: schedule them ASAP!! It’s better to cancel it than to wait for another slot. I’ve completed one drive (as of the day I’m writing this). My instructor showed up right on time and eased my nerves about the drive by going over the agenda. My instructor was patient, kind, and knowledgeable.
Update (March 2025)
I completed all of my required drives and received my certificate. From experience, the instructors were always on time (sometimes early) and were patient. Even when I made a mistake, they didn’t shout or become authoritative. I want to say thank you!

Two of my family members (one teen and one young adult) were instructed here in 2024-2025. The teen went through the full classroom course and lessons. The young adult took four custom adult driving lessons. They were both very well prepared and the instructors created a non-anxious environment during the lessons. Appointments were offered via text messaging directly to the students in a timely manner, and pickups at the high school, college or home were a welcome bonus for convenience. Mnemonics and other helpful skill lists were provided. Both of them passed the road test on the first try. Caregivers will need to commit to put in the work to practice skills ahead of each lesson and log driving. Tremendous thanks to John the owner and the rest of the staff for excellent communication and a wonderful learning experience.

My son just completed his final driving lesson, and I can say that this experience was a good one. He took his classes last March, and it was nice to be able to complete them within the month. We did not have any issues scheduling drives. I would leave a message and have a text with dates within 2 days, sometimes the same day. We had to cancel one a few months back, and we had no problem getting another date on the calendar pretty quickly. My son said all of his instructors were friendly and helpful.

My daughter enjoyed this school a lot. John did a good job preparing her for driving on her own. The best thing was that she finished her classroom time in 4 weeks. The addition of the online scheduling for drive times is definitely a plus.

John is a fantastic operator who is invested in his students. He makes sure his students are prepared to operate their vehicle safely, lawfully, and pass all exams necessary in the state of Illinois.

There is a lot of driving schools that are in my area, but New Concept Driving School is without any doubt the best one. They offer so many things that other schools do not and it is cheaper than the other competitors. I drove with super friendly staff, such as John, who gave me what I needed for my driver's test. Overall, New Concept Driving School was incredible for me and I'm very glad I chose it over anywhere else.

FANTASTIC SCHOOL!!! Any new drivers looking for schools, I would highly recommend New Concept. It is a bit expensive ($400), but it is well worth the cost. John is a great instructor who can be both funny and serious, which is the perfect combination for a teacher. Also, the state of Illinois requires six (6) hours of behind the wheel training, however, they give you eight (8). Again, it is an absolutely fantastic school.

This is a great driving school. My third child is learning to drive, and we have used three different driving schools in the area. This is the first one that I can honestly say has been worth every penny and every minute of time. The owners are friendly, helpful, considerate, and knowledgeable. The classroom instruction was useful and well taught. The driving instruction has been excellent. My son has learned so much from New Concept Driving School. I will definitely be sending my fourth child here. I recommend New Concept Driving School.

My son recently attended New Concept. They are efficient and timely when registering your child. Registration is very easy and there are many classes to choose from. As it is right off of 45 and Washington, it is very convenient for drop off. If anyone works remotely, I would just go down a few stores on the strip mall and work at the coffee shop during class. The instructor is friendly, knowledgeable and make class fun for the kids. He uses current information and videos so that the kids are not bored. My son did not complain once about going to driver's ed class. He is my fourth and the first one to enjoy class! I would highly recommend this school! Lastly, our family went on vacation and missed the final three classes. We were able to easily make up class during the next group of classes.

John is an amazing teacher and coordinator. He is always very respectful and straightforward. If you take the ~10 minutes to read the contract with your parents/child everything is super smooth and goes by quickly. John was able to help me get all of my drives scheduled around my insane scheduling as I attend school out of town. This is a great driving school. My third child is learning to drive, and we have used three different driving schools in the area.
