Please stay away from this school. It is a scam. My son took the class and passed but is unable to pass the road test. I have called and emailed, drove to gonzales on my lunch break and left numerous of messages for Ron and no replies. Each time you take the road test, you have to pay 60. So while the course is cheaper than most schools, they make it up at the end. How do you pass his course but failed the road test? They don't give you documentations or receipts. Good luck if they answer the phone and that's before the floods. If you are considering this school,please read these comments. Also look at the number of complaints registered with the BBB. Of course this school is not a member accredited by the BBB. please call the BBB and file your complaints. To those of you that had a good experience, you lucked out. This business should be closed down. Its obvious its a get rich quick scheme. My child took the class months ago and never completed the 8 hrs. he needed due to poor planning and scheduling. They never answer or return phone calls and when you catch someone in the office they flat out lie to you in your face. Had to take my child to another driving school to finish. He finished in one day what they could not finish in three months. Stay away from this school Im currently taking my experience to the better business bureau because while they continue to take people money and over crowd the class room they hold you hostage by scheduling the driving classes months later. They also cancel driving sessions without notifying you but have the nerve to wanna charge u a fee if you miss the session. Please stay away from this business at all cost. Read Less

ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !! They should be closed down by the Better Business Bureau! They took our money, so we were locked in....had to take the class in an un-air-conditioned room which is VERY hot; then didn't find out until afterwards that we can't schedule the driving time for another 2 months! So...we waited! Now that we have patiently waited 2 months for my son to be able to do the driving part, and NOW that it's time for him to drive, they send an email out saying that all driving times have been suspended indefinitely because of the flood! No refund or compensation was offered. Yes, I do understand that the flood was unexpected, HOWEVER, most businesses are back up and running. Even the schools that have been totally destroyed have figured out a way to get the students back into classrooms. All the roads are clear now...there should be no reason why SmartStart can't figure out a way for these kids to do the driving portion for which they have already collected money! My options now are to either wait several months, indefinitely, for my son to finish the course, without any promise of ever being able to do the driving portion...or pay ANOTHER driving company to finish a service for which we've already paid Smart Start for. I have requested a refund from Smart Start for the driving portion. We paid for this class to begin the day after Christmas. His driving lessons were so sparsed out that he would take have the six months he needs before his birthday. Unprofessional and always late. It shouldn't take 7 months to get 4 driving sessions in. It take that long for them to take my money. You get what you pay for. Read Less
