Driving instruction was fine, but the service isn't great. Consider not taking your road test here (or at the very least, try to shoot for a weekday). My scheduled road test time was 10:50, I arrived on time, and did not get tested until 12:40, I spent 2 hours sitting outside waiting for people ahead of me and the RMV professional to come back from his 12 PM break, and there was no reconciliation for this even when pressed. It felt very poorly organized, and the feedback from the RMV professional (who the people in the office seemed very familiar with) I'd gotten after the test didn't make sense, wasn't congruent with the feedback I'd been getting in lessons, and it seemed like he was in a bad mood. If you have the resources to do so, you can save a ton of $$$ by practicing in the area around the Springfield RMV a couple of times and getting your test done there--way better experience + service. Pros: - After 20+ lessons, I can do every road test maneuver besides parallel parking perfectly. (I can do parallel parking decently too though). - Instructors are nice, I've had lessons with about 5 of them and none of them were ever mean or unbearably strict. - I think there's a benefit to practicing with a professional instructor instead of a random untrained person in your life, they're a lot more patient and much less judgemental than many people. Cons: - There's more of a focus on learning/perfecting maneuvers than actual driving, though you do get to go on main roads sometimes. However, I still struggle with turns despite me expressing concerns about them nearly every lesson and I cannot confidently park in a regular parking space. - Service is consistently bad. There's not really a process for checking in for a lesson once you arrive, and scheduling, rescheduling, and payments are all a hassle. You'll get chased down for late or nearly-late payments that you didn't know exist because front desk doesn't know how to leave voicemails. Very disorganized. - No driving school can do this and any of them will tell you as much, but it's not a substitute or replacement for practicing driving outside of lessons. If you give it a lot of time it can come close, but if you're a potential student with people in your life who can help without being an ass to you, or if you're a parent who's capable of providing your child with patient, caring support, you should opt for those if/when they're available. This place might eventually get you your license but it won't make you a good driver. Read Less

Anderson's driving school prepared me very well for driving on the roads. I had Rich for most of my driving lessons and I really owe it all to him. Sometimes he could be a tad harsh, but it is only because he sees the potential in his students and aims to push them to their best ability. Because of him and the way he prepared me, I was way more comfortable during my license test than I thought I would be. He always takes you on the practice routes and thoroughly readies you for your test. The best feeling was getting my license, going back into Anderson's, looking Rich in the eye, giving him a fist bump and saying, "I did it, thank you for everything", and him telling me that he knew I would pass and that he believed in me. Rich is a great instructor and led me to be the driver I am today. I highly recommend him and Anderson's Driving School. Read Less

Don't even get me started on Rich. Rich is a coffee bellied fatso of an instructor that doesn't know how to teach. He knows how to drive, I'll say that, but he doesn't know how to make people comfortable either when in the car watching other drivers to learn from their mistakes or when behind the wheel. He's also racist; I can recall a comment he made about Indians and (paraphrasing) their "lack" of ability to drive since their country doesn't have laws about the road or developed roads. He's also very rude, making discriminate comments to the learning driver to make them feel bad about themselves. Hey, this is the 21st century; telling bad comments to someone to make the listener prove themselves doesn't work anymore. Several times, I can recall him grabbing the wheel when we weren't in danger, stopping suddenly because I didn't look "enough" (3 seconds isn't "enough?"), and yelling at an increasing volume until my ears hurt at me to do something that was required WHILE I was doing it. He's also insensitive to the fact that not everyone has the same circumstances of driving. At the time that I had lessons, my parents were both working from the morning until around 3, and I could only drive their car to get to swim practice through the highway. This means that I was adept at driving in the highway, but not so much in the suburbs. Despite me telling him that, he said that I "needed to make more time." But when do I have another car readily available to practice? By the time of my last lesson, I threw a fit: I was driving at 25 mph, but he kept on telling me to increase the speed to around 30 mph. I got angry by the fact that he kept on telling me this, so I floored the pedal. Of course, he got mad and pressed the break on his own side, and told me not to speed like a maniac. I shrieked at him telling him to not tell me do change what I'm doing if I'm not doing anything illegal. This shocked the boy who was one year younger than me that was watching me drive. Word enough don't express how much I hate this school and that fact that this Kremlin works here. This is a horrible school. Don't attend it. You're better off teaching your own child how to drive. I wish there was a "zero-star" opinion. Read Less

I am generally disgusted about the lack of respect and sense of teaching Rich had. He is a terrible driving instructor and I sincerely hope the owner of this place rethinks the employment of this guy. For a beginner driver, I expect to be carefully taken through everything and get help when needed, but instead, Rich thinks its a good idea to take the wheel whenever, and "Do it [himself]" without elucidating on what he is doing. I get he is a driving instructor, but the whole point is to instruct the driving student on what to do, not take control and do it yourself. He is a truly miserable, disgusting, human being. I can only imagine how bad his son, Seth is at being a teacher. REPORT
Very nice secretary. She takes time to explain everything. She does not rush you off the phone. I feel very satisfied with the level of service my son and I received.
