I am so glad we are done with this company. I signed my teen up for both classroom and road lessons. The classroom portion was fine. The driving instructors were pretty good. They never took my teen on the highway, even through highways are nearby. The website claims they have lessons on weekends, but they are rare and often booked full. Don't count on weekends if your teen has a busy school schedule during the week. Lessons were cancelled multiple times. No reason was given, just a form email. No accommodations were made to help with rebooking. It ended up taking us nine months to finish the road lessons. The last few lessons, my teen comes home and tells me the teacher said we need to book the road test. I went to the RMV website to try and got a message that I am not able to book the test until all of the road hours are completed. So on the day of the last lesson, I call the school, give them my name, my teens name, explain the above, she's doing the last lesson right now, and will I be able to book the RMV road test when she is done? The woman on the phone then tells me that the teacher is trying to tell us to call SDS to book the road test with them. SDS offers their own road test at their site in Sharon, using their car, their instructor as sponsor, and charging another $175. Thinking my teen might want to do this, I thank her for the information, tell her I will talk to my teen when done, and will get back to her as soon as possible. What follows is literally my exact email exchange the next week, in a single thread, with the school over the course of three days. I purchased a lesson + road test package from Newton Driving School with an exam in Sharon Driving School. I already have extensive driving experience from my home country and clearly explained that I mainly needed guidance on U.S. exam procedures. During the lesson, the instructor only taught parallel parking, three-point turn, reversing, and briefly mentioned speed limits. That’s it. I was never informed that hand signals would be tested — even though, as I later learned from the examiner, this is literally the first thing they ask. On exam day, the staff didn’t even know I was coming. I was given paperwork at the last minute and everything felt disorganized. When I got into the car, the examiner immediately asked me to demonstrate hand signals. Since nobody from the school had ever explained or practiced them with me, I failed instantly. I went inside to ask the manager, Gilya, why this was never mentioned. Instead of trying to understand the situation, she immediately became defensive and claimed they show hand signals to everyone. I asked her to call my instructor directly and confirm whether he personally showed them to me. She called him and framed the question as: “Is it true that we show hand signals to all our students?” — which obviously guaranteed a “yes” answer. She made no attempt to actually investigate. She wasn’t present at my lesson or exam and had no idea what was or wasn’t shown to me. When I suggested checking the dash camera footage from the lesson car, she refused. Then things got much worse. She told me “get out!”, and after I asked in English what she said, she started yelling “Get out of here.” Multiple times. This level of disrespect was shocking. I paid $275 for this service. I simply asked a reasonable question about something that caused me to fail, and I was treated aggressively and humiliatingly. If you choose this school, understand this: the moment there’s any problem, you won’t get help — you’ll get hostility. This was the worst money I’ve ever spent. Completely unprofessional behavior, poor communication, zero accountability, and absolutely unacceptable customer service. I strongly do NOT recommend this Driving School. I strongly recommend this school. My son took a classes in June and it was great. Very convenient. Driving hours he was picked up and dropped off, I did not have to drive him anywhere. Was cancelled on 3 times while booking my test. Failed because of small bump against curb while pulling away (but was told I passed all aspects of the test). Would not reccomend, was cheated of money and time. I did not receive my practice that you must pay a lot of $$$ for. Go to bills driving school Read Less

I would have given 0 stars if there was an option. Totally rude customer service and no refund in anyway. I had a road test scheduled for 08/06 which they cancelled and asked $100 more to reschedule it. Reason for cancellation - you are scheduled somewhere else for road test whereas when i am not. **** SCAM BUSINESS / AVOID AT ALL COSTS ****    At a 11am, today we had scheduled a One hour Refresh Driving Hour & Road Test After with the Sharon Driving School. They called us at 9am (ish) to say they were ahead of schedule and to come early if we wanted. We immediately drove the 45mins to Sharon. As we arrived, they were approaching our car before it was in park, saying the RMV Tester was ready to give him his test. My son knew parallel parking was hard for him and needed the one hour refresh driving hour that we paid for for him to practice and calm his poor nerves. Instead, with a 30 second explaination they told us the RMV Tester could not stay today and needed to leave early, therefore the refresh hour was canceled and he needed to take the test immediately. Before my wife and I could even locate an employee of the driving school to voice our concern, my 16yo was in a car taking his drivers exam. The car returned no more than ten minutes later saying he failed because of parallel parking. At this point we started getting angry and asking them why did they not tell us when they called this morning that the refresh driving hour was canceled and we felt he deserved a second chance at the parking test. At this point a very rude woman started telling us that our sons driving school did not prepare him enough and that the failure was final. I told her that this is exactly why we hired them for a private lesson before the test. ( the entire time the woman was rolling her eyes at me and telling us to calm down. ) This woman obviously has no children and has no clue what having a disappointed teenager looking at you to help them, feels like.  I started to ask for a manager or owner to speak with and she told us if we did not leave before she got back from her next driving test she would be calling the police. We assured her in no uncertain terms that we would still be there when she got back, so she should call the police now and tell them they stole out money, did not provide the service and how she wanted the police to remove the company's victims from their parking lot! The woman return returned to the main office and argued with my wife. ( at this point I thought I was too angry to rationally speak to her any longer.) After an argument where my wife demanded our money back she said she would have to talk to her accountant but would refund for the private one hr lesson and that's it. After reading all the horror stories on yelp and a "We hate Sharon Driving School Facebook Account", it's clear this place should not be in business. I will be speaking with the Better Business Bureau and the MA RMV on Monday, about these people. Only Disgraceful and Dispicable people would be willing to ruin a 16yo life changing moment to this type of shit show for a few dollars, Read Less

I really wanted to give Gilly the benefit of the doubt when my daughter came home complaining of Gilly yelling at her during the driving instruction. My daughter was so terrified of her, but I made her complete the program. When I went back a year later to request documentation for completing the parent's class, she told me it was $20 just to print it out. I was shocked as I had already paid for the class and it was only a piece of paper. I did voice my complaint, but agreed to pay for it. I got out a $20 bill and tossed it on the desk beside her as she was getting the paper ready for the printer. She apparently thought I had thrown it at her as she yelled at me and threw the $20 on the floor at my feet. She then refused to provide me with the letter documenting I had taken the class. She was so rude and very volatile. I went home and apologized to my daughter for not believing her and making her complete the program. The worst customer services we never been facing. They failed to return our calls due to the fact was that my kid missed one driving lesson.She yelled him on the phone loudly ! When we came to expressed the problem, she wanted to call the local police to kick us out. ( Maybe she has the power in the town...? or we don't look like her...? ). Really wish I could give zero stars. The owner of the school is incredibly rude. When emailing her questions she would answer with all caps and lots of !!!! Yelling her answers to simple questions. Then when my son finally got to his road test day, she was the sponsor. Just before he went someone backed into the driving school car. It was still drivable so they continued on. When he got in for his test, she was on the phone yelling at someone the entire time. She had one job to sit there for four minutes and keep her mouth shut while he took his test. The whole situation made him very nervous. During his lessons the instructor from the school told him he had to drive slow through the school zone, under 20 mph. Every time I took him out to drive he would tell me over and over he was told he had to drive slow on the test through the school zone. He was driving around 19 in a 20. In the end the owner told him he was wrong to be driving slower. This is what her instructors taught him. So apparently not only did they not teach him correctly, the owner had complete disregard for her student and the situation he was in. I get that you need to be able to deal with real life situations but as the owner and paid sponsor you would think she'd have a little bit of consideration. Read Less

I completely agree with the reviewer below from 2013. The place has NOT changed since then. RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I made the mistake of enrolling my son here. I called to inquire about a payment I made (which they misplaced) and was hung up on. Classes are cancelled without any notice. They do not stick to the schedule. Every time my son tries to ask a question to the woman who is teaching the class, she responds rudely and is very curt. Please save your money and go to another driving school. I would run, not walk, away from this school.  The owner is dreadful and you need to deal with her on a regular basis.  How they stay in business is beyond me - I think it is only because people need a school to which their kids can walk.  If there is any sort of problem, rather than work out a solution, she yells and screams at both the student and the parent.  Rude is an understatement. She is abusive.  Once you pay your money she has you over a barrel because you need the certificate for your child to get his/her license.  If you talk to people in Sharon they all know her and they all know she is a witch.  The kids joke about how badly they feel for her child.  Do not patronize this place. This place is a nightmare, the worst customer service I have experienced in my life.   Problem raisers, not problem solvers, seem to do everything possible to find administrative reasons not to conduct the test, then attempt to charge again for a re-do.   Then when trying to work it out on the phone, the administrator is extremely rude, constant interruptions and contradictions of her own colleague responsible for the test.   Don't use this service unless you want a nightmare experience and massive amounts of wasted time. The owner of this establishment is a sphincter.  My son paid extra money to have the road test taken through the Sharon Driving School.  The owner stayed in the car with him and criticized his driving while the tester was observing.  She did this so that my son would have to go back for more lessons.  How incredibly unethical.  For my other child, I sent her to get trained by the Cambridge school for the blind.  She was better off. Gilly, who I believe is the owner, is great!  My daughter took the week long course back in December.  She passed her learner's permit test back in February.  It's been very easy scheduling driving hours with Gilly.  I've scheduled my parent course.  Gilly is informative and thorough.  I highly recommend this driving school to anyone!  Oh, and it is VERY reasonably priced!  It was a win-win for us! This woman is so incredibly rude that I cannot believe she stays in business. I am the parent of a student.  I had heard and read horrible reviews about this woman.  My daughter requested to go for the convenience of it being down the road from our home.  My daughter has shown me her grammically incorrect email replies, that are difficult to understand, and when my daughter asks to clarify, she rudely replies and then decides to cancel her morning driving hour. The email reply is at 11pm at night. She gives me an excuse when I call her in the morning that she had to do a road test.  Well then she should have had the courtesy to cancel the appointment well before 11pm.  That is not acceptable nor is professional.She speaks to BOTH ADULTS AND TEENS in a curt, unprofessional manner and her communication/grammer is horrible.
