The home renovation classes are amazing. The price is great. I love that you learn so much in just a few hours. The workshop space is more than adequate. They provide all the necessary tools, building materials, safety equipment, and also very useful handouts. Many of the classes are very hands on. After the classes you are more knowledgeable and confident to go home and tackle your projects. Be aware that many of the classes approach the subjects from a perspective of new installations and don’t really address demolition and repair challenges unless you ask questions. If you are working on a project and have questions the teachers welcome your questions. I do feel sometimes the teachers don’t quite understand the questions. Sometimes it’s a matter of how the question was asked. I think it is a good idea for teachers to ask, “have I answered your question?” The staff that assists you with registration and checking in are very kind and are very willing to answer questions you may have about the courses. Overall, I highly recommend the classes.

I attended the Drywall and Cabinet and Counter Top Installation class taught by Larry and Sterling. Before I started, I was a little intimidated. By the end of the class I can say I am comfortable trying small projects at home. I appreciate them taking the time to pass along some great gems.

Im currently taking the heavy equipment class lead by Bernardo Reeves and I can say he is a very effective and efficient wit making sure u understand the controls and concept of operating these machines and also making sure u know the proper way to operate. He has been nothing but amazing as a teacher with class this size he keeps everyone hands on and rotating learning different obstacles that we will encounter in the work field I have learned a lot from the teaching of Mr Reeves on how serious and important these machines are. I highly recommend that if anyone is interested in learning heavy equipment he’s the teacher for u he will steer u in the right direction.

Attended the intro to mig/arc classes last spring. They were well organized, the knowledgeable instructors were personable and happy to share their experience. The equipment was brand new, and we had plenty of time for hands-on practice of what was taught. Definitely worth the small investment to get exposure to an interesting skill.

In November of 2016, I decided I wanted to learn how to drive an 18-wheeler. Well, a few weeks later I was thrilled to say that I had enrolled at the Detroit Training Center in January 2017. Because of my successful completion of the vigorous program(s) I now have a multitude of new opportunities that have opened up before me. Since my enrollment began at DTC I've received my CDL-A driver's license - a HAZMAT, Double and Triple trailers, and Tanker endorsements, an OSHA 30 ...certification, and a RRP Lead safe certification from the EPA. The instructors for the truck driving class, led by Tom Mueller, all appeared to love their jobs, and it showed! They were all professional and I also found them to very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing their collective experiences in the trucking world with the class. In a nutshell, basically there are lots of amazing things happening at DTC, and I'm just glad that I've been able to capitalize on at least some of them. Real talk. The home renovation classes are amazing. The price is great. I love that you learn so much in just a few hours. The workshop space is more than adequate. They provide all the necessary tools, building materials, safety equipment, and also very useful handouts. Many of the classes are very hands on. Im currently taking the heavy equipment class lead by Bernardo Reeves and I can say he is a very effective and efficient wit making sure u understand the controls and concept of operating these machines and also making sure u know the proper way to operate.
