We were told this program would take 6–8 weeks before my husband enrolled. They had no problem taking our money, but we're now heading into month three with consistent excuses and very little communication. We've repeatedly been told they're short-staffed, instructors aren't available, and despite being told my husband is ready to take the state test, no one can even tell us whether he's actually scheduled or not. What makes this even more frustrating is that they continue taking in new students while current students are left waiting because there apparently aren't enough instructors to keep up. This isn't just an inconvenience. Every week this gets pushed back is another week my husband can't start working in the career we paid for him to train for. Delays like this directly affect our family's financial stability. If the program was going to take three months or longer, we should have been told that before enrolling. Instead, we were given expectations that haven't come close to reality. If you're considering this school, don't just ask how long the program is supposed to take. Ask current students how long it's actually taking to finish because they do not care about your financial situation it’s very unprofessional Update/response:Thank you for responding, but I think your reply actually highlights the communication issue I described in my review. At no point did I say my husband missed attendance, needed additional practice, or wasn't ready to test. In fact, we've repeatedly been told that he *is* ready for the state test. The problem is that no one has been able to tell us whether he's actually scheduled or when he'll be testing. You also state that you currently have a full instructional staff and a lower student count. If that's the case now, that doesn't address what we were told throughout the past several months when delays were repeatedly attributed to staffing and instructor availability. Those explanations came directly from your staff. Most importantly, your response doesn't address the main concern: we enrolled after being told the program would take approximately 6–8 weeks. We're now well beyond that timeline, and the communication has been inconsistent throughout the process. Had we been told from the beginning that completion could realistically take three months or longer, we would have made a much more informed decision. Finally, suggesting that students should come directly to management overlooks the fact that we've already been communicating with staff throughout this process. This review wasn't posted because we never reached out—it was posted because, after months of asking questions, we still couldn't get clear answers. This review isn't about expecting special treatment or an unrealistic timeline. It's about setting accurate expectations, communicating honestly when those expectations change, and recognizing that delays have real financial consequences for the families who invest in your program. Those are the concerns I hoped your response would address. Read Less

I normally don’t leave reviews, but people need to know what they’re getting into with Suburban Truck Driver training School. This place looks professional at first, but the moment they get your money, everything changes. The staff suddenly treats you like you’re a burden instead of a student paying thousands of dollars to be there. The admin staff is almost always hiding in the back office and when you finally do get their attention, they talk to you like you’re trash instead of a human being. Customer service here is nonexistent. Simple questions feel like you’re inconveniencing them. The instructors are all over the place. Every single one teaches something completely different, so you end up confused because nobody is on the same page. One instructor tells you one thing, the next instructor tells you the opposite. They clearly have no real system in place to properly prepare students for the state skills test. A few instructors were actually decent and seemed like they cared, but then they stopped showing up regularly too. The equipment and trucks are an absolute disaster. Most of the trucks look like they’re being held together by hopes and prayers. I honestly don’t understand how some of them pass DOT inspections. The trucks smell heavily like exhaust fumes and make you feel sick sitting in them for long periods of time. The classes are ridiculously overcrowded. You can spend a 10-hour day there and be lucky to get a couple turns practicing maneuvers. Then when it’s finally time to drive, they cram 5 people into one truck so you barely get maybe an hour of actual drive time for the entire day. Most of the time you’re just standing around waiting. For the amount of money they charge, the training quality is unacceptable. The organization is terrible, communication is terrible, the staff attitude is terrible, and the learning environment is terrible. Overall, I honestly cannot recommend this place to anyone. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. Read Less

All of the below personel are amazing at what they do, Pete ,Hunter, and Eric are the three instructors i had while practicing/learning for my Cdl test! Pete is an offset legend, Hunter is the queen of PreTrip and Eric is a mad scientist when it comes to learning road skills. In all honesty all the staff are amazing at what they do even the recruiters and ladies in the office. A very special shout out to the ladies in the office Rachael for helping me find a job with Schneider trucking, and Ashley for helping me navigate through some sensitive situations. Laura is extremely fortunate to have the staff she does and also is an amazing person and will help any way she can with any obstacle. You guys are amazing and I wont forget you guys! Everybody there is willing to help you in anyway to get your Cdl! However its not up to them to perform its up to your own determination, motivation and drive. If your not motivated determined or dont show up you should really think about trucking its not just a job or career! Its a lifestyle and it is dangerous. If you have worries or second thoughts about driving a truck well Walmart is always looking for cart boys and gals or greeters! Thank you for everything Suburban staff!! Read Less

Instructors are great for the most part. The great instructors that I've met so far are Smithy, Craig, Dean, Tom, Joe. Some of them can be rude and mean at times, but funny and great to talk to and get advice from at other times. They all have their own style of teaching. Their class room teacher, Irene, is great. You'll learn a lot from her. Easily got my permit due to her. Trucks are old, but it's understandable. As students, we ruin the trucks, as we're new to driving them. It will, however, take time to learn how to use them, as they're all different. Cafeteria isn't the cleanest. Same for the restrooms. However, the point of the school is to learn how to drive a truck. You will learn how to do that from this school. Like I said, the instructors are great. They'll explain what you're doing wrong. You'll be in and out within around 3 weeks to a month or as long as you need. 4 stars, because you will learn pretty well from this school. Would recommend to anyone who wants to learn to drive a truck. Smitty and Joe are tremendous instructors. Smitty is a yard instructor. He will do a great job in explaining maneuvers, instructing you on what to do and why. And he can explain what you did wrong. Joe is a road instructor. He is probably my favorite. He's really funny and is great at explaining why you should do certain things. He's calm and explains how to drive in a way that will resonate with you. Read Less

I went to test site and was embarrassed at equipment they had me testing in.....Bald tires cracked and damaged mirrors basically a junk truck. Read Less

Great Office staff, great instructors. Everyone is great here and if you are a hard worker you will get a CDL and be very successful. If you are constantly absent, late etc. you will have issues.

Very unprofessional.......instructors don't really teach just blow whistle on outside the truck wen u mess up. Trucks are not fit to be driven as they have bald tires broken mirrors and in need of repair. If ur making 6000+ per student why is equipment so old !! I went to test site and was embarrassed at equipment they had me testing in.....Bald tires cracked and damaged mirrors basically a junk truck. Compared to other schools that were there had far newer trucks and better condition. On top of all that most talk to you like your a child bcuz ur sponsored and they can bcuz u need a job? Dont waste ur time go with a school that cares Read Less
