(Romeo location) First off I will say my son attended Segment 2 and enjoyed the instructor. That’s why we stuck with Courtesy for the road test. Didn’t have reason to go elsewhere. And then today happened. He had a road test with Anita. From the very start she had an attitude. He would ask questions to clarify and she would give him a look with an attitude response. He did end up failing because I said his name during the driving portion. Completely my fault. It just came out 🤦‍♀️ I understand that. That wasn’t the problem. It was her waving her hand in the air and literally yelling “AUTOMATIC FAIL” while he was still driving that rubbed me the wrong way. Was that necessary? Simply saying it would have been sufficient. Fail him, ok, he/I will learn from it and he’ll try again. These kids taking a road test for the very first time are already nervous going in. She ended it with (again with an attitude) “You can reschedule after 24 hrs.” No thank you, we won’t be back. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy because of her. ONLY reason I gave a 2 star is because segment 2 was great. Otherwise definitely would have been a 1. Read Less

Absolute Disaster – Inflexible, Hidden, and Money-Hungry I should have known by the name "Courtesy" Driving School that this experience would be anything but courteous. The irony is staggering. After waiting over a month for an appointment for my son's road test, the entire experience on June 6th was a complete disaster. First, the location details are a joke. The test was at Avon North Hill Lanes on Tienken. Anyone with common sense would look in the massive front parking lot. Instead, the instructor was hiding in a small, obscure area tucked behind the building. Because of traffic, we arrived a few minutes late. Instead of showing any professional understanding that traffic happens, the instructor sat in her car until we approached and was instantly agitated. She kept repeating that we were running late, which made my son incredibly nervous right before his test. Zero smiles, zero reassurance, and zero customer service. To make matters worse, we accidentally left his Segment 2 certificate on the kitchen counter. While I acknowledge the contract lists what to bring, their total lack of flexibility or modern technology is absurd. In 2026, why is this information not digitally accessible to the instructor? We live only 3 miles away. I begged the instructor to let him take the road portion while I zipped home to grab it. Shot down instantly. We tried to get a family member to text a photo, but no one was home. Instead of trying to help a nervous teenager or showing an ounce of "courtesy," they pocketed my $90, refused a refund, and sent us away. They are completely inflexible, hidden away, and running a total cash grab. Save your money and go to a driving school that actually understands customer service. Read Less

I would give 0 stars if possible. I am a business owner, so I care about reviews and am the last one to disparage any other business, so I don't say this lightly. I am making SURE that no one I know personally uses this school. The online teacher was unorganized, demeaning to students, and wasted a LOT of time. They spent over an hour and a half over two different class periods just scheduling their first drive, which should have been a 5 minute task. She did not teach; she PLAYED VIDEOS OF HERSELF READING ANSWERS to 75 question worksheets. Like "Number 32 is C, here's why. Number 33 is B, here's why." No organization, no thought, no student participation, no engagement. And then she had to go take care of her dog so here's a random 2 minute video that has nothing to do with the current topic. When the kids would tell her she already played that video, she wouldn't believe them. I called to complain after the 2nd class and was told my concerns would be escalated, but no one ever reached out to me. Read Less

I went into Ms. Becky’s driver’s ed class already being an elite driver — honestly just one call away from Formula 1. My skills were already basically perfect, but Ms. Becky still managed to somehow improve them, which I didn’t even think was scientifically possible. She teaches like a mix between a professional driving coach, a motivational speaker, and someone with the patience of a medieval monk who has been meditating for 40 years. Even though I clearly already had natural racing talent, she still helped me refine the tiny details — like apparently you shouldn’t take corners like you’re qualifying at Monaco and that “rolling stops” are not technically the same as stopping. Ms. Becky somehow survives teaching classes full of students who occasionally forget basic things like which pedal makes the car stop, yet she stays calm the entire time like nothing happened. Overall, Ms. Becky is a legendary instructor, a hero of the roads, and possibly the only person capable of turning a group of teenagers into mostly safe drivers. If you take her class, you’ll leave a better driver, with more confidence, and with a deep respect for her incredible bravery. Five stars. Read Less

We selected Courtesy because it was held at our child's school in Goodrich immediately after school. Never again will we use them. They charge if you cancel your drive, which we understand, but canceled our first 2 drives the day they were to happen. If not for the kindness of their substitute teacher helping schedule drives to catch up (the first teacher was out for a week), we never would have finished on time. The cherry on top was them misspelling my daughter's last name on her segment 1 certificate (we had to show a copy of her birth certificate at the beginning so they could have paid attention to how it was spelled). Instead they blamed her handwriting for the error rather than call us if they had any doubts. They had the audacity to say they usually charge a fee for a new certificate but would waive 'this time". The only way we could get my daughter's learners permit the day she graduated was to drive an hour to their location after she completed the class to pick it up. Our first 3 kids didn't use Courtesy and our last 2 won't either. Read Less

I would give them a 0 if it was a choice. The owner, Brandon, must not care that these ratings are real, from real parents and students. My son was a student and drove with Kathy. She has terrible reviews for a reason. I wish I never gave them a dime $380 too late. She was so rude, never greeting us. Waved us with her FINGER from her car so she didn't have to get out in the cold. She gave us 0 idea as to what rules are while driving or even a nice chat as to good luck toward my son. I, as the mother spoke and she rudely cut me off. I made a comment about it being rush hour. She was a miserable person who should not be working with people. At the end she said I may speak about anything, weather, sports, just not talk about his driving(should have said this in the beginning?!)The manager said she has only not passed 4 students out of 44,000. No I didn't hear that wrong. Who are they passing then. Big tippers? My son drove rush hour, smooth, perfect speed in horrible traffic ect. They apparently all lie at Courtesy and the owner Brandon just wants our money. She didn't pass him and was rushing to go home to say as of why. The manager I spoke with said he did things that Kathy blatantly lied about. As a parent I want my son to be safe. If he wasn't ready I would understand. This was a money trap. The ratings are real. My son took his road test today with PEP BOYS Sterling Heights location Courtesy Driving School and what a terrible experience! The instructor, Kathy, was unprofessional, impolite, and impersonal/ZERO personality. The moment my son and I met her I sensed something was not right. It would have been nice to have been greeted with something such as "Hello, how are you today?" Instead, she honked her horn at us and then when we approached her vehicle she rattled off the required documents and finished by saying "fifty-five" (55); meaning, just hand over $55 Cash. Prior to the road test she did NOTHING to ease my son's tension/nervousness with any small conversation or pleasantness. I even attempted to stir up a light conversation but to no avail. As the road test began, my son was still very tense and uncomfortable with Kathy's staunch, uptight disposition. This type of behavior does not lend itself well to attaining good results from a beginning driver. I earnestly hope Courtesy Driving School talks with Kathy regarding her attitude and behavior. A road test instructor shouldn't make someone feel soooooo tense while driving! What a horrendous experience. At this time, I would highly recommend not taking your Road Test with Kathy as your instructor. Read Less
