My driving instructor was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. Instead of focusing on teaching, he spent the entire session asking intrusive questions and comments about my personal life. He jumped to talking about things such as “women are more emotional,” talked about men like to mess around with women. Also, talked about another students relationship problems with me. While I was already panicked on the road driving 75 mph on the freeway, rather than helping me stay calm or redirecting the conversation to driving, he continued talking about my personal life and making inappropriate comments and judgments. He went on and on with the unsolicited and inappropriate advice unrelated to driving. There was so much more that I will leave out. The entire experience was baffling, stressful, and deeply unprofessional. In that moment I was anxious and focused on the road too much to speak up for myself. I ended my lessons early because I no longer felt comfortable or respected. Some of us are unfortunately not able to have that privilege of someone actually teaching us. So, when I finally get the courage and seek help in practicing driving, I’m judged for it on top of other topics he judged me for. Just because I’m a legal adult doesn’t give anyone the ‘okay’ to speak about inappropriate topics with me especially in a teacher and student dynamic. Read Less
