I have been driving for many years but have an international license so was required to take the NYS road test to gain my NYS license. I don't have a car so I needed to rent one to use during the test. For a very reasonable price, Rocco picked me up close to the test site, took me to my appointment and allowed me to use his instructor car. Very happy. Rocco is a great guy who runs his own business and cares about students passing. Before I ever spoke to Rocco I had failed the driving test 3 times. First 2 times I was not prepared well enough. 3rd time was a grumpy proctor. 4th time I booked at the Havemeyer location as it had the soonest availability. I contacted Rocco (his office is nearby) for a car for the test and 1 lesson prior to get used to the car. His rates are REASONABLE! Other services will bankrupt you. Very friendly and answers the phone! Pre-paid and day of the test we met for the lesson. I was instantly at ease even though I was rusty not having driven for a few weeks. No pressure driving including all the basics for the test. Helpful tips. Didn't drive "for the sake of it" he was purposeful in all of the directions and routes he made me take. He even taught me a new parallel parking technique which I adopted even though I had been using a different method for 3 months and had not been docked on that part of the test w the prior method. I used this parking method on the test and it worked very smoothly. He checked in with me half way through the lesson "You doing alright? Good to keep going?" While waiting in line at the road test site, he also gave me very helpful last minute reminders and made efforts to ensure I was in the right state of mind going into it. He understood what my main concerns were and we addressed them verbally so I was comfortable. I passed. If I knew about him earlier I would have done more lessons with him vs. other service and probably would have passed sooner as well. Car used was a Toyota Corolla. It had 100k+ miles on it and bit jerky with accelerating but caused me no problems passing. Automatic windows if you need to adjust when it comes to parking. I think people with 1) nervousness 2) looking for a option that won't break the bank will be very happy working with Rocco to move onto the next stage of their life. Thank you sir! In terms of straightforwardness, no tricky streets, no tricky traffic interfering while you're doing yo thang - Havemeyer was by far the best location.
