Before July, I had no idea how to even turn the wheel. By the second lesson I had with Valentino, I was already getting more comfortable with the car. Not only is he super honest and helpful when guiding you on the road and pointing out things to improve on, he is also just a great person with great values all around. I looked forward to every lesson! After 10 lessons in 2 weeks, his brother Romeo (the other driving instructor) scheduled my road test within 3 days and I PASSED!!! I was super nervous but I felt confident in what Valentino taught me. Parallel parking was always a beast for me and while I didn't get it smoothly on the first try on the exam, I knew exactly how to troubleshoot and ended up parking on the second try! In my opinion, these skills are so necessary because it shows that you're not just following what the instructor is saying, but you're learning what to do if what you're doing on the road isn't perfect (like parking the first time). I am so happy I went with this driving school. For me, the prices were reasonable, the convenience was top-notch, and any day/time I wanted a lesson was pretty much always available. I will say I wish they communicated things a bit better because sometimes I was missing details for lessons or the road test I scheduled. But, as always, they end up getting back to you -- just know that they are POPULAR with students this time of year and the front desk lady is a relative of the instructors so please be patient!! I read a review here saying that the woman on the phone was rude, but she's just very straightforward and to the point. They are all trying their best here! I truly enjoyed my driving lessons with my instructor, Valentino. He is an outstanding instructor—patient, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the entire learning process. I can't recommend Valentino Driving School enough. They're a family-owned business that's been around for over 50 years, and it shows. Everyone was professional, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me succeed. I had the pleasure of working with one of the owner's sons, who is also a high school teacher in the East Village. He's been part of the family business since he was a kid, and his experience really comes through. Their prices are fair, and they truly hold your hand through the entire process. The road test examiners don't mess around, but Valentino knew exactly what to prepare me for. Every tip they gave me was spot on and matched what happened during my test.
