I would highly recommend looking elsewhere, the training director is a peace of work. If your struggling to pass the school road test, which is required to get the certificate you paid $10,000 for. He’ll just continue to test you and fail you, until he can push you out and prey on the next student and take their money. There’s will be no intervention, no talks of how we can get better and get the student to pass, he’ll keep sending you out there and set you up for failure, he will also lose track of your hours and you’ll end up having to make up hours you already made up, because he can’t keep track. Also if you’re planning on taking the night class, I wouldn’t recommend that either, there aren’t enough instructors to support the students, on a good night there are 3 maybe 4 instructors. They have the privilege of teaching everyone in the night class, needless to say you’ll be teaching yourself. You will also be screwed out of getting simulator time, as they don’t have anyone at night who knows how to use it! The list goes on, it’s just really disheartening that I have to leave a poor review for this school, because before swift bought it was held in such high regard. Its easy to see, it’s not about producing quality truck drivers for the industry, it’s about charging high dollar prices for low quality instruction. Read Less

I consider myself a second generation graduate of NTTS the man who raised me graduated in the early 80’s and still uses his cdl. I recently graduated last week. I’ve read every review others have left and would like to share my experience. I previously held a class b for ten years so Most was review. 1st off you will get outta this program what you put into it. They teach you the basics, the first week and a half your being read to out of the state NY state CDL manual and J.J.Keller training book and You’re watching videos. You’re taught the General Knowledge, combination and air brakes which is all that’s required to obtain a class A permit. You will review and take quizzes to help prep for the permit. Halfway through the second week we were doing yard maneuvers and hitting the road. The maneuvers we went through were see side, blind side, straight line, offset (see side and blind side) and parallel. They showed us a 90, alley dock and a horseshoe that they weren’t required for the dmv and said we may want to learn them once we become professional drivers. We were told they have a simulator in Liverpool which I believe everyone should use even if you have double clutching experience it would be a nice refresher. Me personally I’d start everyone in an automatic so they could get the basic vehicle handling down then add the shifting but remember the more you add the longer the course would have to be and the more they would have to charge to cover costs of fuel and instructors. My main instructors were Jeff and Zach they had told us many times that the only stupid question is the one you do not ask. Do yourself a favor and ask questions they’re not mind readers. Share your Concerns they will listen and do their best to help but they cannot if you don’t speak up. I only gave them a 4 because I believe NTTS should have had an instructor in the passenger seat and one viewing from the yard at all times when doing yard maneuvers which they may have at other locations I took mine at JCC and it was a first time attempt for a program there. There is a 3 students to 1 instructor ratio which is decent. Overall I am satisfied with the course and happy they provide truck and trailer for the dmv test, I previously had trouble obtaining both. I would like to thank Jeff and Zach, it truly takes a special person to do this job let’s face it some students don’t make it easy, Covid didn’t help and other drivers on the road don’t help either. I wish everyone the best of luck come February 2022 everyone will need a course like this to obtain a cdl,no more mom and pop trainings unless they’re licensed NY state instructors. Read Less

This school will provide you with the resources you’ll need to pass the cdl test. BUT, most instructors teach you maneuvers a different way so you’ll have to learn how to do them on your own while practicing. Most instructors are not capable of doing maneuvers properly. Some of the instructors are completely unprofessional. They really don’t push the things you’ll need to know for the actual cdl test until the very end or unless you ask. A few road instructors really shouldn’t be teaching, they forget you’re a student, not even a rookie yet. If they worked on professionalism I would give 5 stars… Read Less
