Currently a student at the end of my 4 weeks. There's some good, bad, and a little bit ugly with the company but overall is a solid place to get your CDL. At the top of my list of compliments is the amount of quality drive time you get. Considering some of the other reviews, I was pleasantly suprised with my drive times so far. In no order, there are some pretty solid instructors on the yard, Lance, Mark, Davi, and Craig. Every instructor has their own gem of knowledge to pass on, you just have to pool it all together. This is a class for grown adults and its sad to see some of the little internal dramas going on. The study material and pre-tests are the biggest things needing improvement. Pre-tests are Google doc forms and can easily be edited and fixed with the numerous wrong answers, grammar, and messed up wordings. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely dedicated to making sure you understand the material and feel confident behind the wheel. The administrative team is also very helpful with getting everything organized from day one. I enrolled into American Truck Training in March of this year. I was initially going to Superior until Mr. Stephan set up an appointment to meet with me in person. I loved everything that he told me. The best part about the school is they have automatic trucks, and I wanted to get my automatic CDL. Mr. Stephan also mentioned I was able to obtain my tanker and hazmat endorsements through the school as well which I did. My primary instructor was Miss Natalie. I cannot say how beyond grateful I am for her. She was such an amazing mentor and a great instructor. She pours her heart and soul into her students to make sure that you pass not just pass, but learn anything and everything about a truck, maneuvers, and general knowledge. She really cares about her students, and I am beyond humbled to have had her as my mentor during my time here. Not only for me, but for my fellow classmates whenever we kept messing up, she always made sure that we stayed positive and kept practicing and practicing. Coming from a different career to getting your CDL is very, very tough, but when you have someone like her supporting you and picking you up when you fail, it is the best support anyone can ever ask for. Miss Natalie, if you’re reading this as I start my career in this field, you will always be remembered because of you. I got my CDL. Thank you! My road instructor was Mr. Craig. Because of his amazing instructions and mentorship, I never thought I could ever drive a big commercial truck, but he made it so easy. The turning, the mirrors, the observation, maintaining your speed—he did it all. He taught me so many things, most importantly about safe driving and always keeping yourself and your cargo safe. I am so grateful for him. Mr. Craig thank you. I am also very grateful for American Truck Training. The instructors here, even if they are not your primary instructor, will always help you no matter what. They want you to succeed. They want you to pass. They really care about you. I want to thank Miss Abbey for all her help as well. It took me four attempts to get my CDL, but with the help of my mentors, the instructors, and everyone at the school, I got my CDL.
