I had a pretty good time here at driving school last summer. The only reason it wasnt great was because of some hooligans sitting behind me. The classroom teacher was entertaining and I liked the kahoot. My favorite part though, was doing the actual driving with John. It was an awesome first driving experience! He drove enough so I wouldn't crash at first, but gradually he drove less and less and I was the only one driving! John taught me how to turn, park, go the right speed and all the other kind of stuff. He was great! Read Less

This is an excellent driver's training program for teens. My two teenage girls took the weeklong class last summer, and recently took the driving lessons in the car with an instructor. They learned so much in the class, and road instructor was fantastic at getting them more comfortable and proficient behind the wheel. I was terrified to take them driving on the highway, but after two sessions of doing that with the instructor, they feel confident with highway driving. The ability to take the driving test with Brentwood Driver Training instead of at the often intimidating and slow-moving TN Driver's Services Center is a HUGE benefit. Thank you! Read Less

I might have had a better experience if the admin strive staff was more helpful. My child’s driving trainer was excellent at his job (if a little lacking in communication to parents), and their front desk support was very sweet in trying to help solve my issues. She passed me to the office manager who yelled at me and was all out rude. I called back and asked to speak with someone higher up, who was the owner. She talked over me, and did not wait for me to explain my issues. My daughter was scheduled for a driving test through them after/during a lesson. The trainer told my daughter she could maybe pass but might do better with more practice and just did not give the test. He did not communicate this to us (parents) when we came to pick her up from lesson, nor was any helpful information given to my daughter or us on what to practice on more. The test was simply not given. Every time I asked someone why, the story would go from “your child is a danger on the road” (the quote from the office manager) to “she’s probably ok, but could use more practice” ( from the trainer), to lastly the owner finally giving me a rundown of 4 things that needed to be worked on but that my child is a terrible driver. I asked if someone could still give the test as it was scheduled and the owner said I guess we can have someone there, but you have to go the Brentwood, when we usually do our training in hermitage. I agreed and let her know that I would be writing this review and it might not be good. She called back 20 minutes later and cancelled the test, telling me that she wasn’t required to give it and they wouldn’t because I was choosing to write a bad review about their services. She did offer to refund the portion I paid for the test. While the service could have been helpful, most of the staff is jaded and very hard to get helpful information from. It was lot of money for 32 hours of classroom classes that only covered the things my child already knew to get her permit to begin with. We only had 1 hour on the simulator. Extra driving lessons were suggested so we purchased these. Then, we kept getting “just not ready” when asking about the test. I felt it was an effort to keep us buying more and more lessons. That may not have been the case, but since we couldn’t get straight answers it was very disconcerting. Read Less

The school itself is good but the instructor my kid had was not. He was sexist and told the kids they were stupid. I would. It recommend the west end location unless you want your child put down etc.

I do not recommend this driving school to anyone. The trainer is good but "manager" is very dishonest, unorganized, disrespectful and will either not answer your call or hand up on you when you try to obtain a refund for her error. My instructor at Brentwood driver training was phenomenal. His savage beatings ensured that nobody who stepped foot in the west end building would never make any mistakes on the road. The crash preparation module was very eye opening as I watched my life flash right before my eyes. The experience and learning was worth all of the whiplash and following hospital procedures. Mr. Fischer Shaffer was a very kind, considerate, and relatable with all of his drug overdose stories. Whenever I would get bored in class, I would always examine the mass of tattoos on his ripped left bicep. One of my favorite parts was when they said I didn’t have to take my drivers test and then I had to take it anyways. I highly recommend this program (at the west end location) because it is a good, eye opening real life experience where you can be exposed to the wonders of the automobile and a first hand look at a man who did too many drugs as a child. This review is for the Brentwood location, not West End. Their website claims you get 6 hours of training, with 2 of the hours on a simulator instead of actual driving . We used the simulator during the first class only. There is no real driving at all for the first 4 classes and then on the last day you get to drive. But it was around 3 hours not 4, so the website is not accurate. The instructor was okay. Most of the classroom time was spent watching driver training videos. The owner is extremely rude. Because of him I would give the school no stars if it was possible, but I can't save the post without selecting at least one star. They were supposed to order lunch every day (for students who pay $5 for it), but on the 4th day there was no lunch. They let kids leave the school that day and go down the street to Sonic, even though they told us on the previous day that no one was supposed to leave the property. They gave us soda with lunch on the days that they ordered it, but other than that we had nothing to drink all day from 8:30AM to 4:00PM, so I had to bring my own water once I knew that I would get nothing to drink. There are too many students in the class and the room was uncomfortably crowded. If you're thinking about spending the $415 for this class (or $425 for some stupid reason for those of us who enrolled online), save it, look up some drivers ed videos online, and learn it on your own.
