I want to share my experience taking a driving test at this location. Overall, the driving school itself is good and well organized, and I believe many students can have a positive experience here. However, I would not recommend taking the test with the Ukrainian female examiner who works at this location. During my exam, points were deducted for a right turn even though the right lane was completely clear, the maneuver was done safely, and no other vehicle had to slow down or change lanes. According to Washington State traffic rules, this type of right turn is allowed when the nearest lane is clear, but it was still marked as incorrect. Because of this situation, a significant number of points were taken off, and the test was failed by a very small margin. There were no dangerous actions, no traffic violations, and no loss of control during the exam — only deductions based on subjective judgment. A family member of mine also took the test here for the first time and had a very similar experience, failing due to minor and highly subjective issues. This made the evaluation feel inconsistent and overly strict. In summary, the school itself is good, but I strongly recommend choosing a different examiner if possible, as the result here seemed to depend more on the examiner than on actual driving ability. My instructor, Kathy or Cathy (I apologize in advance of misspelling) IS AN AMAZING INSTRUCTOR. My first lesson was with Rob, he did amazing job directing me while I was behind the wheel. He made sure to make driving fun and safe! Super kind and encouraging along side Kathy! Kathy was my instructor along the way throughout my driving lessons. She is wonderful, always explaining the things I was confused on and always made sure we both were on track of understanding the lessons we worked on. Whenever I did few mistakes, she would always give me critical advice without any discouragement or making me feel be-little. She is amazing at giving instruction especially when I was doing the back-up manuever and parallel parking. And while driving through the city, she always told me whenever I decide to make decision such as turning, MAKING SURE IT IS SAFE TO DO SO! I used all of the knowledge and advices that was given to me;; I passed with a 96% on the driving test. I am so grateful and humbled to have her as a instructor. Thank you!!! Went in at 1030 got me in a car that had a scooby doo skin on it.did my test,went well. The person testing me was very nice. She told me were i need to improve without insulting me. it was fairly cheap to use there car. 5 stars would go again if it was necessary lol. Read Less

The staff here are so very friendly and helpful, and really want you to learn to drive well, they deserve a customer service award. Each time I came in they were very punctual. I took their adult driving lessons and I'm so glad that I did. I was able to pass my test and feel confident in my driving skills! Thanks. Read Less

My daughter enjoyed the class and it went very smoothly from both her perspective and mine, as a parent. She really liked the instructor and his humor seemed to make her more confident. They were very flexible with her work and school schedules. They also offer the written and final driving test there as well. I would highly recommend this school. Read Less

My first test I failed legitimately due to a couple of reasons, however the second time I was failed due to a completely unreasonable reason. I was still in the intersection while making a left turn and the light turned red, apparently to the instructor this was ilegal. However I looked in public law resources online with the official laws in washington state and nowhere does it say that if you are still in the intersection while the light is red you broke the law, in fact it says other people must wait for you to clear the intersection if you entered legally (Which I did I entered during a green or yellow light). I contacted the school by email about this wanting a better explanation (which they said they were given extra rules by the DOL to abide by which are not even the law) and or a refund, which they offered a refund however after giving them my address I have yet to receive the refund after 3 months. I-5 Driving School just recently opened their Federal Way branch in November and I'm so glad they did. My teenage daughter took the lessons and she loved the experience. Being a parent of a teenage driver, I want to make sure that she gets the proper education. I rode in on the first drive and first freeway drive just to see how the instructor teaches. I am so glad we went to this class. Cassandra is such a nice instructor, laid back enough that the students don't stress out too much, but strict enough to enforce the rules and regulations. I want to start off by saying I passed my driving test! But even if I would not have passed I would still give this driving school 5 stars. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted. Quick paperwork process as well as detailed explanation of how things work. My driving examiner Lindsay was wonderful! She made me feel so comfortable and confident. I am 22 years old and have been avoiding the driving part of the test because of fear of failure! I passed the first time around with a 96 and I feel I-5 driving school played a big part in me being comfortable and confident about my driving. I got the bundle where I use their car and warm up for 30 minutes before I took the test for $80. Definitely well worth it. I had to take a driving test again because my license from California had expired. Apparently you have to take the tests again because the state says you have to. I'm not going to fly back just to renew my license, so it's like I'm 16 again having to take these.The people working here were super nice, and gave me some good tips on what to practice first. I passed on my first try, but still lost points. Who actually parallel parks anymore? Anyway, 4 stars because they don't open til 10am, but I guess they are open later. I needed early morning though. I-5 Driving School provided my son a great learning experience!  At first he was dreading the idea of more "school" during the summer break, but the feeling quickly went away.  He found all the instructors enjoyable to.  They made the course content interesting and fun.  Also, I was impressed by the ease of rescheduling missed class and drive sessions.  I'm so happy this was a great experience for my son.  I would HIGHLY recommend I-5 Driving School. Best one ever! They are affordable and the instructor I worked with was awesome! I only took the driving test there, but he made me feel like I have been learning how to drive with him this whole time. I forgot his name, but he was really tall and had awesome facial hair! Before the test he reminded me of a few things to look out for while I'm driving so I don't lose any points for stupid mistakes and he was very calm and supportive throughout the whole test. I would take the test over there again if I ever had to. They are 5 steps up from North Star.
