Steve if i say it nicely is NOT the best instructor. made me very uncomfortable when i was driving and was talking to me the whole time. The 2 new females in the office also don’t do nothing n never answer the phone calls. last week came in to take my knowledge test n they said i couldn’t because it was friday so I walked in today, on a Wednesday for them to tell me that their program is down. The folks here are awesome! Very friendly and helpful, I was welcomed walking in the door despite the fact they were quite busy at the time. No BS, just decent, REAL people. I was kind of nervous about testing and they put me at ease with genuine conversation, smiles and good attitudes. Great prices and the customer service was way above and beyond, making this place stand out compared to the other driving schools I considered. I wish there were more than 5 stars I could give them! My sister has tried for weeks to get her license through this company. They are only open a few short hours a day and NEVER answer their phones. The driving instructors are awful and mean. One guy failed her but told her "I know you know how to drive and you're just nervous...." ummm....that makes no sense! She went in person to schedule another test and a on the day she scheduled the test a driving instructor showed up and acted extremely annoyed telling her that she wasn't scheduled and there was nothing he could do. I went with her to schedule this test. She has wasted so much time and money. DO NOT USE THIS "SCHOOL". Ridiculous. Waste of time. Read Less

I attended this school 15 years ago, and from what I hear, it has not improved one whit from my experience. At the time, "Big John" himself was teaching; a raunchy, vile, ill-humored ex-cop with a dirty old man vibe. I remember hearing rumors at the time that they had just changed locations to Salmon Creek because of some bad business to do with Big John. Now they're in Orchards? Really?? All these negative comments? I generally don't like people and I just met the most genuine and straight forward instructor and staff by far. I would gladly recommend this school/testing site to all my family and friends. And I don't send them to just anyone. Need to teach the instructors the laws of the road. "Keep right except to pass", unless of course there's a left turn lane near, that your taking. Older female instructor, teaching a young girl to drive on 500 in the left lane at less than speed, holding up traffic at lunch time. Read Less

PARENTS BEWARE! We’ve had our two teens in classes at Big Johns the past four months. They’re staff is nice and polite at first, but the second you share a concern about the way they do business they become argumentative, prideful and indignant. Because they are extremely unorganized, they have inconvenienced us too many times to count. Yet if you inconvenience them even once, they charge you for it. Unfortunately they don’t care to hear your concerns if it means someone on t...heir staff did anything wrong. Like give you misinformation time and time and time again, or make your child take classes over and over again when they didn’t need to, or accuse your child of writing in their scheduling book when it was actually their staff, or make you reschedule drives over and over again because no one in the office can do it right the first time. This is only a VERY SMALL example of the ways they’ve taken advantage of their position and mistreated our family. At this point in the game they have two more opportunities to not screw up again before our whole family floods the internet with poor reviews. Big John's driving school is the best. They have the cheapest prices in all clark county for sure. And they are the most friendly laid back atmosphere from the first phone call up until they give you your test results from your drive test. Totally awesome upbeat staff with very good info. I used them for testing and drive testing but if I was a young person and needed to attend a driving school for a permit or a licence this is the type of people that would be the best fit. My drive test was with big matt. Extremely laid back no pressure type of guy. This place rocks. I told them I was homeless and I was in dire needs of testing immediately so my money wasn't lost on my insurance for dropping me for no licence and within 4 days they had my written test done and a drive for me. That's not how it always is they explained but they are the type of people that if they can help they will. I know because of my living situation I didn't look or probably smell the best but in a room full of normal people they made me feel like I was just like everyone else. Didn't hesitate to shake my hand and even sent me on my way with a hug a crate and a pat on the back. This is the place to go. To them its all about " alright man your here to get your licence right on!!" not the usual stressed and pressured and over priced feeling that makes you nervous and mess up then they take your money over and over. 30 bucks for my written test and 40 for a drive. Mine was 65 for the drive because I used there vehicle. I passed my drive on a Friday afternoon and Monday morning at 9 a.m. Olympia already had my test scores and were putting them in the computer didn't have to wait 7 to 10 days like all the other places. Nice people, Very unorganized. They canceled so many of my daughters drives because of scheduling issues. It has taken my daughter 3 time longer to finish because of the mistakes they made. Could not get my last daughters final drive scheduled for over 3 weeks. They told us to go to there Camas school to finish which is 20 miles away. Just a overall bad experience. Go to 101 driving school. My Son goes there right now and they are amazing. Going to write them a review next. Read Less

This is the best driving school out there!!! Matt the teacher/owner makes the classes really interesting and he makes sure that you are taken care of. On our last class he did something super amazing but I can't tell you, you have to find out yourself!!! 10 out of 10 Read Less

Go Big John GO! No idea why anybody needs to go to a driving school it's not that hard....OH WAIT drive around Vancouver and you realize that half the town needs to come here! All you dummies not using turn signals, jacka**'s coming across 3 Lanes of highway to take their exit AND DOPES ON PHONES ALL OVER many of you should come see Big John! Driving instructor made a blind U-turn right in front of me and I missed hitting him by inches. I had to chase him down to get the car info. When I called the company they didn't want to even hear what had happened. I insisted that the hear what happened. I told them that my pressure washer was damaged by the near miss and they said "ok thank you". I can't even imagine a driving school with employees so careless and a company that literally does not care at all. Read Less

I went to Big Johns years ago in my teen years and it was, and remains, the best driving school in Clark County. I was safe, I was protected, and to this day I am a proud adult who never has been in a car wreck or accident because of the safety instilled in me at Big Johns driving school. Read Less

Big johns has been a wonderful, helpful environment for me and all my classmates. All the instructors have been amazing and very knowledgeable. They're strict but know what they're doing. They want to make sure you're safe on the road and will not pass you unless you are safe and ready. If you take your kids to big johns they will be taken care of. Read Less

Ive currently only taken the written driving test here, but the receptionist was wonderful! Even after failing my test the first time she derected me to an even better program for my phone than I was using and the second time I passed with a 100% and even got a high five when I received my results. I will update my experience when I take my drive test. Read Less
